FSSF makes record-breaking contribution

Members of the Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund Board announced a $110,000 donation towards the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s upcoming capital campaign during an event today at the University of Arkansas System office. As part of the event, the organization also awarded 76 scholarships to students currently enrolled in the college’s petroleum technology program. The contribution is the largest number of scholarships awarded in the program’s history. The Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund is a non-profit organization made up of member companies who work in the state’s natural gas industry. The group hosts several fundraisers throughout the year to raise scholarship funds for students seeking careers in the state’s oil and natural gas industry. Fayetteville Shale Scholarships - Spring 2013 UACCM is taking applications for leftover Fayetteville Shale Scholarships for the current semester. Requirements: • Petroleum Technology Major • Need based on Cost of Attendance Budget (Will be checked by the Financial Aid Office) • Full-time student with at least six hours of courses that count towards the Petroleum Technology plan of study • Returning Petroleum Technology students are required to have a minimum 2.75 semester GPA • First-semester students will be awarded based on high school GPA, ACT scores, or COMPASS scores • High School GPA must be a 2.75 or higher. • Students using ACT scores must have a minimum score of 17 on math, 19 on reading, and 19 on English. • Students using the COMPASS scores must have a minimum score of 26 on algebra or 49 on pre-algebra, 83 on reading, and 77 on writing. • Students who have completed 12 or more hours (including developmental) at another college or university must have a 2.75 or hi...

UACCM PAGEANT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The pageant was held Nov. 10 at the Fine Arts Auditorium on the UACCM campus.  For the Miss UACCM division, winners were: Miss UACCM, Adrienne Ackley; first runner-up, Brittany Smith; second runner-up, Cinnamon Pierson; third runner-up, Jouana Rosas; and fourth runner-up, Kasja Thuston. Miss UACCM, Adrienne Ackley, received a $1,000 scholarship to UACCM, and first runner-up, Brittany Smith, received a $500 scholarship. AFTA Establishes Charlie Reiter Memorial Award Scholarship at UACCM

The Arkansas Fayetteville Shale Transporter Association (AFTA) recently established a $3,000 scholarship for students in the petroleum technology program at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton The scholarship was established through a gift to the UACCM Foundation in memory of Charlie Reiter who was employed at Southwestern Energy (SWN) as a Desoto Field Completion Manager for the past seven years until his death in January 2012. (UACCM) Reiter was a respected member of the oil and natural gas community and was awarded the President’s Bottom Line Impact Award from SWN in October 2011.  As an employee of SWN, one of AFTA’s member organizations, Reiter was recognized as someone who considered safety as a high priority, and that characteristic fits closely with AFTA’s mission to promote safety on the roads.   AFTA Board President Rod Krug said, “ Charlie didn't just talk safety, he believed everything revolved around safety.” Krug added, “Charlie embraced...

Beverly Parks Memorial Scholarship

$500 Scholarship for Fall 2012 with possible renewal opportunity Eligibility Requirements: · Business Office Technology major · Previously completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of classes with a BUS, FIN, or ACCT prefix · Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA · Full-time student · Recommendation letters from two Department of Business instructors who have taught the applicant in at least one class with a BUS, FIN, or ACCT prefix · Student cannot receive other financial aid or scholarships (excluding loans) in excess of the total amount needed for books, tuition, and fees Applicants should complete a UACCM scholarship application and indicate Beverly Parks Memorial Scholarship on the application. James W. Pettry Memorial Scholarship

Thanks to the generosity of Pat Pettry (Academic Achievement Instructor) the following scholarship is now available to our students.  James W. Pettry Memorial Scholarship One year scholarship up to $1000 per semester (Funds must be applied towards tuition, fees, and books) Applications are now available to apply for the James W. Pettry Memorial Scholarship for the Fall 2012 semester. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time, UACCM student pursuing a two-year program in a technical area (preference given to an Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology major student). Applicants must be in their 2nd year of their program of study. One letter of recommendation is required from a former instructor. Preference will be given to students NOT receiving other UACCM academic scholarships. Arkansas Tech University Presidential Honors Transfer Scholarship Applications are now available to apply for the Presidential Honors Transfer Scholarship to ATU for the Fall 2012 semester. Any student planning to transfer to Arkansas Tech University in the Fall 2012 semester who has completed 30 to 60 hours of college classes can apply. ATU allows the UACCM Scholarship Committee to select one Presidential Honors Transfer Scholarship each Spring. Preference will be given to students graduating with an AA degree in May. This scholarship will pay up to $2550 per semester in bill charges and is renewable for two years as long as the student maintains 15 hours with a 3.25 GPA. Applicants must complete a UACCM Scholarship application and indicate ATU Scholarship on the application. Members of the Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund announced a $130,000 donation today to the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton during an event at the University of Arkansas System office. The contribution is the largest scholarship donation in the history of the petroleum technology program. When Should I Expect My Refund?

If you are expecting to receive Pell Grant funds, scholarship funds, SEOG or student loan funds, the money will first be applied to any outstanding balances at UACCM automatically. After expenses, any remaining funds will refunded to you. Since there is a two week refund policy for tuition and books, financial aid refunds cannot be processed until after the first two weeks of classes. Reconciling all charges to each student account typically takes another week, and cutting checks and ordering funds an additional week. Refunds will be issued in this order: loans, Pell Grants, scholarships, SEOG, and all others. Targeted Processing Dates: Loans processed the fifth week of classes for fall and spring semesters and second week of summer semesters. Trauma Scholarship Grant Program From the Arkansas Department of Health

UACCM has five (5) Trauma/EMT Scholarship Grants available for the current Fall 2011 semester.  The scholarships are in the amount of $611.70 each. Requirements: ·           Must be enrolled in the 8 hour EMT class this Fall 2011 semester ·           Awarded based on financial need of the student with preference going to students that do not qualify for other types of need based aid (excluding student loans). New Scholarship Available

Here is some information on a new scholarship available to UACCM students who qualify. The Arkansas Association for Developmental Education (ArkADE ) is offering (2) $500 Scholarships for the Fall 2011 semester. Literary Coterie Scholarship The UACCM Financial Aid Office is currently accepting applications for the Literary Coterie Scholarship. Two (2) scholarships will be awarded for $500 each for the Spring 2011 semester to UACCM students. Deadline to apply is April 8, 2011. Applicants must meet the following qualifications to apply: • Must be a Conway County Resident • Enrolled full-time for the Spring 2011 Semester • Must have a 3.00 cumulative GPA • Not a prior recipient of this scholarship The scholarship only covers tuition, fees, and books – no refund will be given to the student.
