Sidney Moncrief To Speak at UACCM Event

Sidney Moncrief — the former Razorback All-American, five-time NBA All Star, and two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year — will give a presentation titled “Achieving Greatness” on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on campus. This event is being held in celebration of Black History Month. Sidney Moncrief Moncrief, a Little Rock native, was part of the team that carried the Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball team to the Southwest Conference championship, as well as a Final Four appearance in 1978. He held the university’s all-time leading scorer record until Todd Day broke his record in 1992. As the 5th overall draft pick in the NBA, Moncrief went to the Milwaukee Bucks in 1979, spending the next 10 seasons with the team, and garnering a reputation as a tenaciously defensive player on the court. Public Invited To Attend UACCM International Travel Interest Meetings

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will hold two international travel interest meetings to discuss a trip to Italy later this year and a trip to Iceland in 2019. Everyone is welcome to attend, including students, faculty, staff, and community members. The first meeting will be on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 3:30 p.m. in University Center Room 214, followed by a Thursday, Feb. 1 meeting at 12:05 p.m. at the same location. The 2018 trip to Italy comprises tours of Florence and Rome between May 25 and June 1, and the 2019 trip to Iceland will feature a tour of Reykjavik, the nation’s capital, as well as several geological locations during the Spring Break of that year. UACCM Adult Education Clinton Site To Offer Evening Class

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s Adult Education Center in Clinton will soon launch a six-week evening class beginning Monday, Feb. 5.  The class — which is designed to enhance basic skills, as well as prepare students for the GED exam — will meet from 4:30-7 p.m. each Monday through March 12 inside the UACCM Adult Education Center located at 100 Success Drive, Clinton, Ark. The minimum age for enrollment is 18, and all interested students must complete the registration process during Admissions Day on Monday, Jan. 29 from 4:30-7 p.m. All instruction at any UACCM Adult Education Center is free of charge. Each facility offers various programs, including adult basic education, English Language Learners (ESL), college prep, and Workforce Alliance & Growth in the Economy (WAGE) — a series of stackable certifications in partnership with local businesses and industries to prepare participants for workforce careers. The Chancellor’s Scholars List recognizes full-time students who completed at least 12 college-level credit hours with a 4.00 grade point average.
