UACCM Nursing Assistant Class Open For Enrollment

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton is now taking applications for the final Nursing Assistant course to be offered in 2017. The deadline to register is Aug. 31, and only the first 12 paid applicants will be accepted. This course will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 13 with a mandatory orientation session from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Kirk Building Room 123, followed by a CPR for Healthcare Providers class on Sept. 14 from 4:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. in the same room. The Nursing Assistant classes will officially begin on Sept. 18, with students meeting every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday until Nov. 7. Students will be prepared to provide competent, skilled nursing care in a compassionate manner to residents of long-term care, hospice, and hospital facilities. Upon successful completion of this course with a grade of “C” or higher, students will take the state competency exam. With successful passage, students will be eligible to become certified nursing assistants.

UACCM Back To School Bash Set For August 10

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will host the 2017 Back to School Bash on August 10 from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. outside the UACCM Fine Arts Auditorium on campus. Last year’s event was a huge success, and this year will be no different. Over 500 backpacks, all filled with various school supplies, will be handed out at the event, with free food, games, music, and more available around the courtyard. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” will be shown outside, so be sure to bring your lawn chairs. Six cosmetologists will also be stationed inside for free haircuts. Sponsors for this year’s event include Green Bay Packaging, the First United Methodist Church of Morrilton, Crown Concrete, and Morrilton Parks & Recreation. UACCM Adult Education Expands To New Counties

As of July 1, the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will now oversee Adult Education operations in a four-county service area consisting of Conway, Perry, Faulkner and Van Buren counties. After a bidding process that ended March 31, UACCM will now operate facilities in the cities of Conway and Clinton, as well as Morrilton and Perryville. Conway Adult Education courses started on July 12, with hours from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. Beginning July 31, those hours will change to 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday. These same hours apply to the Clinton and Morrilton sites as well. The UACCM Adult Education Center in Perryville is expected to start classes on August 14, and classes will be offered Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. While the Conway and Clinton facilities will both offer night classes beginning August 15 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the Morrilton facility will only offer night

UACCM To Host TeleTech Job Fair

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will host a TeleTech job fair on Thursday, July 20, in the UACCM Student Union building at 833 Timberwolf Drive in Morrilton. The event will last from noon until 4 p.m. TeleTech, a consulting and customer experience company, will be hiring more than 10,000 people across North America with nearly 300 needed in the upcoming Morrilton facility. While TeleTech is largely in need of licensed health insurance agents, the company is also actively looking for team leads, trainers, licensing proctors, administrators, and managers. These positions need to be filled as quickly as possible, making this the perfect time to learn more about TeleTech and if these opportunities are right for you. The Mobile Workforce Unit from the Governor's Task Force for Dislocated Workers will also be at this event. UACCM Announces Spring 2017 Graduates

311 students received 255 awards between May 11 and May 18, 2017 during the spring semester graduation ceremonies at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton. The awards included 163 associate degrees, 12 certificates of general studies, 49 certificates of proficiency, and 83 technical certificates. Friends and family members gathered in UACCM’s Fine Arts Auditorium for four nights as graduates collected their awards from UACCM faculty and staff. Special guests who attended select ceremonies include University of Arkansas System President Dr. Donald R. Bobbitt, and University of Arkansas System Trustee Kelly Eichler. Eichler was appointed to the University of Arkansas Systems governing board in early 2016 by Gov. Asa Hutchinson. Members of UACCM Board of Visitors also attended the ceremonies, including Doug Brandon, Joe Canady, Paulette Smith, and Susan Gunderman.
