UACCM Director of Institutional Advancement Mary Clark and Graphic Designer Trevor Mize attended the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District IV regional conference in Galveston, Texas recently. During the conference awards ceremony, Mize received the Gold Medallion for Innovation in Technology for a Digital Easter Egg Hunt conducted on the UACCM Web site earlier this year.    Additionally, UACCM received Silver Medallions for Web Site Design, College Viewbook, and College Recruiting Poster, and a Bronze Medallion for College Promotional Video. There were over 350 entries in the Medallion Awards competition this year from the approximately 100 member colleges in District IV, which includes Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. Terry Boyd will be presenting “Visions from Arkansas To Alaska,” a photography exhibit, on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton campus. Sponsored by the college, this exhibit will be offered for free and will be open to the public.  Boyd, originally from Russellville, is a photographer who travels and photographs the United States, with emphasis on Alaska. He has spent the last several months in Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska, and will be making an interactive visual presentation while at UACCM. According to Boyd, “The first step toward creative photography is to see with love in one’s heart; that is vision clarified. To recall a moment from a dream, manifest the moment into a piece of reality and then share with the rest of the world to see.”  Boyd will donate several pieces of art to be given away in a drawing and will also have a selection of matted 5X7 and 6X9 prints availa

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s Academic All-Star and Outstanding Alumnus, Faculty, and Staff of 2007 were recently honored during the Arkansas Association of Two-Year College’s 19th annual Fall Conference in Hot Springs. The Edward Craig Smith Scholarship Foundation recently awarded $17,500 of scholarship money for two nursing students at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton and five nursing students at Arkansas Tech University.  This is one of the largest private scholarship awards in the River Valley.   It was the late Edward B. and Pauline Smith’s vision to set up a scholarship foundation to honor their son, Edward Craig Smith, who predeceased them on Dec. 7, 2000.  The scholarships benefit nursing students at UACCM and ATU.  The scholarships are awarded for one semester and they may be renewed each semester by the board of directors.  The foundation board includes John Stottman, president; Jamie Toland, vice-president; and Josh Sanford, secretary.  Richard Johnson of Johnson Investment Group in Russellville manages the scholarship money.
