In order to enforce this reminder, UACCM public safety officers will be stepping up enforcement. UACCM campus police officers’ efforts are part of a larger, national Click It or Ticket mobilization that runs May 18 through May 31. As motorists take to the roads, law enforcement officials across the nation will be ensuring that everyone buckles up. “As the summer vacation season takes off, we want to ensure that everyone arrives at their destination safe and sound,” said Senior Campus Police Officer Richard Ates. “If you are not wearing your seat belt, you will be ticketed.” According to the new data released from the Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly half of the 21,132 passenger vehicle occupants who were killed on our nation’s roadways in 2013 were not wearing their seat belts. That is 10,566 lives
