Alumni Spotlight: Aubrey Viereck

Over the years, we have had many graduates cross the stage at UACCM. Of these alumni, some have gone on to do incredible things around the world, and some have done incredible things here at home. We even have a number of alumni that are employed at UACCM and help the next generations of students succeed. Each month, we are featuring an alumnus that has put what they learned at UACCM to work. She took part in one of the 2+2 programs and transferred to UCA to earn her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. What was your favorite thing about attending UACCM? “My favorite thing about attending UACCM is the long-lasting relationships I built with my professors,” Aubrey said. “The friendships I have with these professors have helped me become a successful adult. UACCM Receives #1 in Several Statewide Rankings

Image
Each year, respected publications name the “Best of” in several categories, including education. The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton is proud to announce it has been recently ranked number one in the two-year colleges category by Niche, Stacker, and Arkansas Money & Politics. UACCM was named Best Community College in Arkansas in Nov. 2021 by Stacker while garnering the ranking for Best Community College in Arkansas 2022 by Niche. Both the Niche and Stacker rankings evaluate colleges, “based on rigorous analysis of academic, admissions, financial, and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education,” as well as student and alumni reviews. They also consider the quality of professors, value, student-faculty ratio, campus facilities, safety, and campus environment. The Arkansas Money & Politics rankings are determined by nominations and votes from readers around the state. UACCM was ranked as one of the top three two-year technical colleges in the 202

#StudentSunday: Wilson Kitchens

Image
For this #StudentSunday, meet Wilson Kitchens, nursing student from Roland, Arkansas! Wilson’s favorite thing about UACCM is actually a campus building: “The atmosphere of the Library Complex is friendly and refreshing. The vast number of windows dispersed throughout the complex give off great natural lighting, which is unique compared to other seemingly dungeon-like libraries I have been to in the past.” When he’s not at school, Wilson enjoys any physical activity, especially weight training. When it comes to finding the perfect career, Wilson explored his options. He came to UACCM as a non-traditional student in 2016 and earned a degree, but the career field wasn’t the right fit. He wanted to go back and earn a degree in nursing, but fear of failure was holding him back. Finally, he has made a brave career move and started his journey to becoming a nurse this year. “The staff here at UACCM have done nothing but help me reach my goal,” Wilson said. “I realized that failure is a part

When asked what his favorite part of working at UACCM is, he said it’s the atmosphere, including the, “Wicked awesome staff, crazy smart faculty, and hungry for education students.” He enjoys seeing all of the hard work from the students translate to changed lives.  When Brian isn’t working at the school, he says he is most likely at home working on projects. Some of his hobbies include dirt bikes, his animals, traveling, and “annoying [his] rad wife.” When asked why students should choose UACCM, Brian considers himself well-versed when it comes to choosing colleges and universities. “As a student, I have been to nine different institutions,” Brian said. “UACCM brings to the table the same educational content the big universities do, but in a smaller environment. This smaller environment allows the inst
