Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Deadline Approaching


We will be accepting Fayetteville Shale Scholarship applications until Friday, September 30, 2011.  We have a few leftover scholarships to give away for this Fall 2011 semester.  Please announce on the website, facebook, blog, etc.

Requirements:
Petroleum Technology Major
Full-time student with at least six hours of courses that count towards the Petroleum Technology plan of study
2.75 GPA or higher

First-semester students will be awarded based on high school GPA, ACT scores, or COMPASS scores
High School GPA must be a 2.75 or higher. 
Students using ACT score must have a minimum score of 17 on math, 19 on reading, and 19 on English. 
Students using the COMPASS score must have a minimum score of 26 on algebra or 49 on pre-algebra, 83 on reading, and 77 on writing.
Students who have completed 12 or more hours (including developmental) at another college or university must have a 2.75 or higher transfer GPA.  The transfer GPA supersedes any HS GPA or test scores.

UACCM Breaks Ground on Nursing and Science Center

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) broke ground for the new $16 million Nursing and Science Center on Friday.  The two-story, 36,000 square-foot Nursing and Science Center will be located southwest of Technology Building II on the UACCM campus and will feature seven science labs and classrooms, ten nursing labs and classrooms, and two student lounges for studying.  In attendance for the groundbreaking was Arkansas Rep. Rick Beck, University of Arkansas System President Dr. Donald R. Bobbitt, Conway County Judge Jimmy Hart, Morrilton Mayor Allen Lipsmeyer, District Director for Rep. Topping-Out Ceremony Held for Nursing and Science Center

University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) employees, students, and members of the community attended the topping-out ceremony for the new Nursing and Science Center currently be constructed on the UACCM campus. Those in attendance signed the beam and watched as it was installed atop the new facility.  UACCM Chancellor Lisa Willenberg opened the ceremony by thanking several of the donors and community leaders that have helped bring the project to fruition, including Nabholz Construction of Conway, who have been constructing the facility since May.  Brad Hegeman, Vice Chairman & Chief Strategy Officer of Nabholz Construction, also spoke and touted a 100% safety record on the construction of the facility to this point.  Also speaking at the ceremony was Gregg Long, Vice President of Infrastructure at Crafton-Tull, the architectural design firm for the facility, Morrilton Mayor Allen Lipsmeyer, and Conway County Judge Jimmy Hart.
