The first class cancellation of 2009...and we're back to school this week!

Image
Well, we've been saying that you could find class cancellations daily here on the Campus Link Bog, but until now have not been able to deliver on that statement. But here we have it...the first official class cancellations of the fall 2009 semester. Gary Battershell (History) is out today. If you have any classes with Mr. Battershell, you can either sleep in, stay home, or have a free class period today! On another note, did you know that today marks the beginning of Back-to-School Bahamas Week at UACCM (I'm sure most of you put that together when you saw all the palm trees and flowered shirts...either that or you thought you had stumbled upon a tropical oasis right here in Morrilton, right?) Anyway, there are some great free things coming up this week at UACCM like a Back-to-School Bash with all sorts of FREE food and prizes, a comic hypnotist , and even a free outdoor movie night . We hope to see you at one or more of these events this week. Have a great week!

Carpooling: Go Green and Save Some $Green$

Image
Raise your hand if you want to save some $money$! In today's world, we are all looking for ways to save money and the environment. Why not do both at the same time? If you're like many UACCM students and employees, you probably make a daily trek to UACCM from Conway, Russellville, or other surrounding towns (some even come all the way from Little Rock!) A great way to save money, save the environment, make some new friends, and have some fun is to carpool to/from UACCM. We've been trying to find a way to make setting up and managing a carpool system easy (and FREE), and think we may have found it. Try it out by going to www.zimride.com and scrolling down to select "Arkansas" from the state listing. Then, select "Morrilton" from the next page. From there, you will be able to see current ride offers/requests to and from Morrilton and the surrounding areas. If an available ride looks like it will work with your schedule, click on it to see more informatio

Have a map: http://www.uaccm.edu/campus/map.html?bldg=uc Just wanted to tell you why you should follow this blog if you are a student. Two words: class cancellations. Orientation in Full Swing and a Note about Parking...

Image
Good afternoon, everybody. "College Success" New Student Orientation is underway at UACCM , and it's a hot one! Almost 900 new UACCM students descended upon campus early this morning and are currently taking campus tours and learning all about what the college has to offer while enjoying some free food and drinks and sweating profusely! Orientation will be held tomorrow, too, followed quickly by the first day of fall classes on Wednesday. Check out the pic. at right to see the mob of students getting ready to kick off orientation this morning. As you can imagine, the 2000-plus students that will attend UACCM this semester will most likely experience a few traffic and parking issues for the first couple of weeks of classes. One suggestion: leave yourself plenty of time to get to campus and get parked for the first few days. The entrance to campus from Poor Farm Road is currently closed, as is the gravel entrance off of University Boulevard , leaving only the main Universi

Some Computer Downtime and Registration Next Week!

Good Friday afternoon, all. Just a little note for everyone: UACCM will experience computer downtime from today, Friday, August 7 until Monday, August 10. E-mail to all campus accounts will most likely be unavailable at this time. If you do try and e-mail someone on campus and get an 'undeliverable' message returned to your inbox, then your message did not go through and you will need to re-send once the system is back up next week. If you have any questions on Monday, August 10, you are encouraged to call campus instead of e-mail. We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing but we promise it will be worth it in the end, so please bear with us! Also, regular registration is NEXT WEEK! That's right ...it's that time! Registration will be held next Tuesday through Thursday, August 11-13. If you haven't pre -registered, check out the alphabetical schedule by clicking here and be sure to come register at your appointed time. We hope you all have a great weekend
