How are you different from your sister? “We have different personalities,” they both agree. Are there any challenges or benefits that come with being a twin? “The benefit is definitely having a built-in best friend from day one,” said Jennifer, “but one of the challenges is they know everything about you, to the point they know how to annoy you…and will.” Why did you both choose to attend UACCM? Alumni Spotlight: Eryn Zimmerebner

Image
Valentine’s Day might have passed, but we still want to show some love to our #UACCMAlumni! This month’s featured alumna is Eryn Zimmerebner. Eryn graduated from the Registered Nursing program in December of 2014 and now works as an R.N. at Conway Regional Medical Center.  What was your favorite thing about attending UACCM? I loved the atmosphere. Everyone I encountered at school was there to help us be as successful as possible. The smaller class sizes allowed for more 1-on-1 time between students and teachers. It was easy to ask questions and get help if needed. How did your experience at UACCM prepare you for your career and life today? The nursing program was fantastic. The hands-on experience with the simulation, starting IVs, injections, etc. allowed me to be prepared as a nurse. The education and interaction allowed me to learn the skills I needed to become the best nurse I could be. Why should students choose UACCM? The ability to afford higher education was a big factor for me

Best Career in the Game

Students should choose UACCM because the class sizes are small and the instructors care. Do you have any special tips or tricks UACCM students should know? Go to class every day, try the Fusion Fries at King Fry, and your flash drive is your life. She also added, “Meet your classmates, love your instructors, and enjoy your time here. Registered Nursing Transitions to Independent Program

Image
The Registered Nursing program at University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton is making big steps towards improving and growing. Beginning in January 2023, Registered Nursing will transition from consortium membership to an in-house program taught exclusively by UACCM faculty.  The program has the prerequisite and initial approval of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN), and will receive full approval and licensure from ASBN before the 2023 class graduates.  “UACCM has grown and is now ready to offer its own RN program,” said Darrell Moore, Dean of Health Professions and Natural Sciences. “UACCM sees this program offering as an opportunity to better serve our students as one in a group of up to 48 UACCM students, rather than one of 300-plus in the consortium.” This transformation will have several benefits for incoming RN students. Having local, UACCM faculty will allow students to have face-to-face instruction and more interaction with educators, as opposed to consorti

In the Spring 2022 semester, Cody Porter and Gabriella Charton were inducted into the UACCM Honors Program.  The UACCM Honors Program is designed to promote a rigorous academic curriculum for eligible talented and motivated students. The program provides an enhanced intellectual environment to encourage critical thinking and varied opportunities to expand communication along with cultural and community awareness. Porter, a second-semester business student from Dover, Arkansas, is excited about the opportunities that the Honors Program will afford him. “It is said that you get out of college what you put into it,” Porter said. “I believe the honors program will allow me to academically engage in tasks that will challenge me. In turn, I hope to acquire useful tools that I can utilize in the real world and life after college.” Gabriella Charton, former high school concurrent student and now full-time undergraduate, has also been inducted into the Honors Program this semester. She is an al
