UACCM Approved as AWS Accredited Weld Certification Test Facility

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) formally announced the college's recent approval as Arkansas' only American Welding Society (AWS) Accredited Test Facility on Wed., May 12, in the Tyson Training Hall of the UACCM Workforce Training Center. New Community Education Courses Available

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s Department of Workforce Development and Community Education will offer several new non-credit courses this fall. These are designed for self-improvement, continuing your education, learning a new hobby, or just having fun. The exciting slate of classes for the fall includes the introduction of new art classes, and the department is welcoming a new instructor for the Munchkin and Me and royal icing cookie decorating classes. There are no admission requirements for any course, but those interested in attending can register by going to  www.uaccm.edu/workforce . Sept. 17: Sewing Machine Basics (6-8 p.m.) Bring your own sewing machine and learn how to use it to the best of its ability. Are you new to sewing but have a sewing machine? Express Yourself: Take Up Creative Writing

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Workforce Development and Community Education department is hosting four packed days of creative writing summer camps, which are open to the seventh grade through high school. Students from grades 7-9 will meet on June 10-13, and then students from grades 10-12 will meet on June 17-20. Both camps will take place at the Business Technology Center. Cindy Fields, a UACCM English instructor who will be leading the camps, says that these workshops will help students explore their individual interests in creative writing. “I hope this workshop will help students unlock more of their creative potential,” she said. Students will gain experience from creating vivid descriptions to writing dialogue.     “The first thing we do is learn to see with a writer’s eyes,” Fields said. “We then move on to putting what we see on paper appropriately.
