UACCM Staff Member Jaramillo Passes Away

Cande Jaramillo The employees of UACCM are deeply saddened by the loss of their colleague Cande Jaramillo. Cande passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017, which was his 66 th birthday. He joined the college’s Information Technology department in 2000, and most recently served as coordinator for instructional technology. Cande’s wife, Linda, is also an employee at UACCM where she is director of academic initiatives. Cande’s memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at the Harris Funeral Home Chapel. To honor our dear friend Cande and in keeping with his wishes, following the memorial service, employees of UACCM are invited to a “Celebration of Cande’s Life” at 4:00 p.m. in the UACCM Student Union. A potluck-style meal is being planned. UACCM retirees and other former employees who worked with Cande during his 17-year tenure at UACCM are also invited to attend the celebration of life event. UACCM Announces Spring 2017 Honors Students

Century League Completes Endowment, Funds Annual Scholarships

In addition to a $2,000 gift, the Century League of Morrilton has given the final installment of a $25,000 endowed scholarship fund created through the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Foundation. Scholarships from this fund will be given out beginning in fall 2018. Scholarships from this endowed fund will be given out beginning in fall 2018. Applicants must complete the scholarship application and submit a 500-1,000 word essay on the topic, “Why is community service important?,” to the UACCM Financial Aid Office to be eligible for this award. 'Be Pro Be Proud' to Showcase Workforce Jobs at UACCM

Be Pro Be Proud, an Arkansas-based workforce initiative designed to shrink the widening skills gap in the state, will have a display open to the public from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14 in front of the Student Union building on campus.  The Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workshop encourages student participation in construction, trucking, manufacturing and other specific career opportunities. The Mobile Workshop includes interactive work stations that engage students in several skilled professional careers through gaming, rich video, and more. In 2016, 9,019 people visited the Mobile Workshop at 80 tour stops in 32 cities. Be Pro Be Proud’s mission is to increase the number of skilled professionals in the state of Arkansas in a way that instills pride and passion in those professions and allows the initiative to track its progress. UACCM Foundation Announces "Links for Learning" Results

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Foundation’s 12th annual “Links for Learning” golf tournament raised $15,000 to help fund the college’s facility upgrades, new classroom equipment, professional development and scholarships. Thirty-four teams participated in the fundraiser held on May 23 at the Morrilton Country Club.
