Russellville Symphony Guild Offers Free Admission to UACCM Students

a The Russellville Symphony Guild is offering current UACCM students FREE general admission to an upcoming concert by the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, April 2 at 8 p.m. in Witherspoon Auditorium on the campus of Arkansas Tech University . The concert will feature a mix of classical music and pop favorites. Regular ticket prices include reserved tickets for $25 per person, which includes a 6 p.m. pre-concert reception at Lake Point Conference Center; adult general admission tickets for $10, and $5 for children. It is not necessary for UACCM students to reserve their tickets in advance, but they must provide proof of college I.D. in order to gain free admission to the concert. Reserved concert seating and reception tickets may be purchased in advance by calling Russellville Symphony Guild Board member Ann Squyres at (479) 968-5080 or Mary Clark at (479) 970-9004 . Scholarship Deadlines

Literary Coterie Scholarship The UACCM Financial Aid Office is currently accepting applications for the Literary Coterie Scholarship. Two (2) scholarships will be awarded for $500 each for the Spring 2011 semester to UACCM students. Deadline to apply is April 8, 2011. Applicants must meet the following qualifications to apply: • Must be a Conway County Resident • Enrolled full-time for the Spring 2011 Semester • Must have a 3.00 cumulative GPA • Not a prior recipient of this scholarship The scholarship only covers tuition, fees, and books – no refund will be given to the student. Applicants need to complete a UACCM Scholarship Application and write in Literary Coterie as the scholarship being applied for and return it to the Financial Aid Office by April 8. Spring Fever - Driven to Distraction

As UACCM students welcome warmer weather, road trips and vacations, the Students R HEROES peer education group will sponsor a special event: Spring Fever – Driven to Distraction!! This campus-wide activity will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m . in conjunction with the UACCM 5K/2K Run Walk on Thursday, April 7 . Games and activities will be located outdoors in the Plaza/Pavilion area and will stress the importance of living a healthy, alcohol-free lifestyle – including an emphasis on the dangers posed by driving distractions. The HEROES will be wearing vivid lime green shirts as they work the games, serve “mocktails”, and pass out prizes. Some of the special activity areas include: • Winning or Wasted - Make hoops at a huge inflatable basketball game and earn drink tickets that can be redeemed at the “mocktail bar.” The trick? Welcome Back from Spring Break!

Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a great spring break! ‎"What is that giant trailer doing by the Fine Arts Building!?" That is the Artmobile! It is full of works of art that were brought to our campus from the Arkansas Art Center . Feel free to stop by the trailer from 9-5 this week to look at the artwork or ask your professor if they plan on scheduling a time for the whole class to go!

Tax Credit Opportunity for Students!

TAX TIME!!! The American Opportunity Tax Credit , originally included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, allows students to claim a tax credit of up to $2,500 per student. To claim the American Opportunity Tax Credit for tax year 2009 and 2010 income tax returns, students or their families need to complete Form 8863 at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8863.pdf and follow the instructions there. If a student had out-of-pocket textbook expenses or tuition and fees during 2009 or 2010 and no other financial grant aid covered those expenses, you may be able to claim the expenses as a credit. For each student, the credit is limited to $2,500.00.

Its Friday! Make it through today and its SPRING BREAK! If you are in Dustin Canady's classes or Dana Strassle's 12pm/1pm classes (only),  your day is even easier because those classes are canceled. OH ... Also thought that some of you might want to know that the ACG, Pell, Second Disbursement of student loans checks are available for pickup at the student accounts window with your student ID until 4:30.

UACCM To Provide Grant-Funding Workforce Training

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will provide workforce training known as the Competitive Edge Workforce Development Program, funded through a grant awarded to the Conway County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC). The $28,841 Incumbent Workforce Training Program (IWTP) grant, awarded by the Arkansas Workforce Investment Board, will allow training employees from nine different area businesses and organizations in leadership and industry best practices.  Barry McKuin, a community leader and former director of the Morrilton Area Chamber/CCEDC, said, "This grant allows us to cover much of the cost for something in our community that brings individual self improvement and contributes to local businesses and organizations becoming more effective." Songs of The Rat Pack

UACCM's Soundscape Presents: "Songs of the Rat Pack" This Thursday Night at the UACCM Leadership Development Institute (115 East Broadway), UACCM's vocal group, Soundscape, will perform "Songs of the Rat Pack." Soundscape will be performing many of the timeless hits from Frank, Dean, Sammy, Peter, and John. The performance will begin at 7 PM and tickets are $10 per person.
