Express Yourself: Take Up Creative Writing

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Workforce Development and Community Education department is hosting four packed days of creative writing summer camps, which are open to the seventh grade through high school. Students from grades 7-9 will meet on June 10-13, and then students from grades 10-12 will meet on June 17-20. Both camps will take place at the Business Technology Center. Cindy Fields, a UACCM English instructor who will be leading the camps, says that these workshops will help students explore their individual interests in creative writing. “I hope this workshop will help students unlock more of their creative potential,” she said. Students will gain experience from creating vivid descriptions to writing dialogue.     “The first thing we do is learn to see with a writer’s eyes,” Fields said. “We then move on to putting what we see on paper appropriately. UACCM Awarded Auto Technology Grant from the State Government

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchison along with the Arkansas Motor Vehicle Commission Board presented the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton with an $11,375.86 Arkansas Motor Vehicle Commission Education and Training Program grant on Friday, April 19, 2019. Grant funds will be used to purchase a tool set to be used by students in UACCM’s Automotive Service Technology (AST) program. UACCM adopted a philosophy of only using trainer vehicles in the AST program to better align with current trends in the automotive service field.
