Rhea Lana Riner to Speak at UACCM for "Talks, Thoughts, and Treats" Series

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) will host Rhea Lana Riner on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at noon in the Student Union, as part of its “Talks, Thoughts, and Treats” speaker series.  Riner is the founder and namesake of “Rhea Lana’s,” a nationally recognized consignment shop. The shop began in 1997 and was operated from the Riner household with her husband, Dave. It has since grown to over 100 franchises in 24 states. Rhea Lana’s was entered into the Business Review’s Hall of Fame for being a Top Franchise for 10 straight years. Franchise Business Review also named Rhea Lana’s a Top Franchise for Women, and a Top Low-Cost Franchise. In 2021, Rhea Lana’s was featured in Entrepreneur’s List of Top 500 Franchises for 2021. This event is sponsored by the UACCM Diversity and Inclusion committee, and admission is open to all, free of charge.

Bowles to Speak at UACCM for "Talks, Thoughts, and Treats" Series

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) will host Sasha Bowles on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at noon in the Student Union, as part of its "Talks, Thoughts, and Treats," speaker series.  Bowles, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, serves as the President of the Arkansas Chapter of the Trail of Tears and is a National Trail of Tears Board Member. She has been employed by Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism as a Park Interpreter II at Lake Dardanelle State Park for 18 years, providing educational programming about the nature, history, and culture of the Lake Dardanelle area.  This event is sponsored by the UACCM Diversity and Inclusion committee, and admission is open to all with lunch provided free of charge. 

Night of Luminaries is Back!

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton invites the community to its Night of Luminaries, Thursday, Dec. 2, following the Morrilton Christmas parade. This free, family-friendly event is expected to start around 6:00 p.m. or as soon as Santa Claus can make his way from the parade to UACCM. The campus will be lined with more than 2,000 luminary bags, decorated by Conway County children, and the community is invited to walk through to view the artwork on the beautifully lit bags. Also enjoy cookies and hot cocoa served by UACCM faculty and staff to all who attend the event.  Participating schools and organizations that helped in decorating luminary bags include Conway County Center for Exceptional Children, Morrilton Primary, Morrilton Elementary, Morrilton Intermediate, Nemo Vista Elementary, Sacred Heart Elementary, Wonderview Elementary, and Riverview Baptist Christian School.
