Public Invited To Attend Be Pro Be Proud Event At UACCM

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will host the Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workshop, an Arkansas-based workforce initiative designed to increase the number of skilled professionals in the state, on campus April 30 through May 2. These events are free and open to the community.  Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workshop The workshop will be set up outside the brand-new Workforce Training Center on the west end of campus. Guests who stop by from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1 can explore the professional training opportunities available right here in Morrilton by touring the WTC. Free food and drinks will be available while supplies last. The workshop will also be open from 3-6 p.m. on Monday, April 30, and from 3-4 on Wednesday, May 2.  The Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workshop encourages student participation in construction, trucking, manufacturing, and other specific career opportunities. UACCM Celebrates Opening of Workforce Training Center April 26

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton invites the public to attend the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Workforce Training Center on Thursday, April 26 at 11:30 a.m. Gov. Asa Hutchinson will deliver the keynote address. The half-hour ceremony will also include remarks from University of Arkansas System President Dr. Donald R. Bobbitt, UACCM Foundation Board Chair Scott McKennon, UACCM Board of Visitors Chair Doug Brandon, UACCM Chancellor Dr. Larry Davis, industry partners, and several elected state, county, and city officials. UACCM Presents 'Steel Magnolias' April 12-15

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Theatre will present Robert Harling’s timeless comedy-drama “Steel Magnolias” this month beginning Thursday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on campus. Other performances are scheduled for April 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m., as well as a matinee show on Sunday, April 15 at 2 p.m. The cast includes Stephanie Price as Truvy, Deeanna Jones as Annelle, D.J. Reece as Clairee, Mackenzie Hendrix as Shelby, Loretta Carr as M’Lynn, and Toni Taylor as Oiuser. Jim Harris, UACCM’s Theatre & Speech instructor, will be director.  “The title of the play is a reflection of how ‘women are as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel,’” Harris said. “It’s a very funny play, yet also has a ton of heart to it. The four students, one staff member, and one faculty member I’ve worked with on this project have all been terrific.
