Southwestern Energy Contribution Funds New Training Center

Foundation Projects Enhance UACCM

The Foundation officially transferred the property, valued at $62,791, to UACCM on November 17. Money for the two projects was raised during the past two years through the UACCM Foundation’s special events, including Just Desserts, the “Links for Learning” golf tournament, and the “Aiming for Education” skeet shoot. The Foundation, comprised of a volunteer Board of Directors, directly supports the College through the funding of programs, equipment, and facilities that may not be paid for through the general

Career Pathways Bridge Academy

The Career Pathways office at the University of Arkansas Community College in Morrilton is seeking individuals to participate in our next Bridge Academy, beginning February 1, 2011. The Bridge Academy is designed to help low-income parents prepare for the demands of earning a two-year technical degree.  The program offers training to enhance COMPASS test scores, the entrance exam for students at UACCM.  Bridge Academy also provides students with career assessment and opportunities to create an individualized plan for academic and career success.  Career Pathways staff members facilitate learning experiences to enhance job readiness, career search, and interviewing skills. Students in the program will enhance presentation and computer skills, as well as develop academic progress in mathematics, reading comprehension, and English composition.  Participants will gain ties to the UACCM campus through in-class workshops, led by UACCM faculty and staff members. HELLO EVERYONE! It is the start of 2011 and you might not be planning on going out much for a while because you are still be recovering from the Holiday spending spree while you anxiously await your excess aid check or perhaps your income tax return. Tonight you should treat yourself, your family, and your friends to a Free movie night! Tonight at 6:30 pm in the UACCM Fine Arts Auditorium, we will be showing the hilarious animated hit ‘Despicable Me.’ It will be a great opportunity for people of every age to get out and have a good time without having to spend a ton of money on movie tickets. There is also a pre-showing of the movie today at 11:30 in Union Station for anyone who would like to see the movie but will not be able to make it tonight. Good Morning! Looking for something fun and FREE to do this Thursday night?! Come see Despicable Me in the Fine Arts Auditorium at 6:30pm. It is a free movie for everyone! Bring your kids, family, and friends and have a fun night out without having to spend a ton of money. There will also be concessions available for a small charge. Class Cancelations : Karen Caig and Sarah Lawson have both cancelled their classes for today.

Career Pathways Campus-Wide Workshop

Do you want FREE tax prep?? Career Pathways will be hosting its first campus-wide workshop of the semester. This workshop will be about Taxes & FAFSA – how to file taxes, how to get them done for less, and how to apply this information to your FAFSA so that you get the most out of it! Remember, if you are a Career Pathways student you have to attend one workshop a semester. The workshop will be held on January 25, druing X-period in the Fine Arts Auditorium. New Changes to Email and ANGEL

E-Mail Accounts A UACCM e-mail account is available to all students. Accounts for first-time entering students will be set up by the first day of classes. Your account will remain active between semesters as long as you are pre-registered for a following semester. All important Campus information is distributed to students through their UACCM e-mail. You must have a signed Computer Account Form on file with Computer Services agreeing to the UACCM Computer Usage Policy. Returning students do not have to complete a form each subsequent semester at UACCM. The following Information will help you determine your username and password for logging onto computers on campus as well as your e-mail account: •Your USERNAME is first initial, middle initial, last name plus the last 3 digits of your student ID. New Additions to the Library

The E. Allen Gordon Library is pleased to announce two new additions to the research tools now available to UACCM students. Through our membership with ARKLink a nonprofit organization of 49 college and university libraries in Arkansas, we were able to purchase these two products: • We were able to purchase 150 electronic book titles on very current topics and they are now available in our list of databases under Gale Virtual Reference Library. These are entire books that can be read as a whole are searched using subject or the table of contents or indexes of each book • In addition, because of this, we will have access to the Gale Cengage database Academic OneFile for one year. This database is a premiere resource for peer-reviewed, full-text journals and reference resources. More than 14,000 titles from 9000 peer reviewed journals, full text of the New York Times from 1985 to present plus links to hundreds of medical videos from OR-Live are also included. Did you get to campus early so you can get a good parking spot then realise you have a few extra minutes to spare and an empty stomach? Do you have a break between classes to go eat, but you don't want to have to wait in line at a restaurant? Perhaps you made a New Year resolution to eat healthier or less 'Fast Food'. Whatever your story, the short version is that you are on the UACCM campus and you are hungry. Good news! The UACCM Plaza is an excellent to grab a quick sandwich or to sit down and have a delicious home made lunch! New ANGEL and E-Mail Login Instructions!

Changes were made to the ANGEL and student email systems over the winter break. Here is the updated information to for students to assess their email and ANGEL. User Name: Enter your first name followed by a period followed by your last name and finally the last three digits of your student ID. Example: John.Doe321 (If you do not know your student I.D. number, visit the Registrar's Office in University Center.) Password: The password will be your three initials followed by the last five digits of your student ID number. Example: JCD54321. The password will be case sensitive so you must use uppercase letters. If you do not have a middle initial then the letter X will be used in place of the middle initial.) CampusConnect Login remains same as previous semesters. UPDATE: Students may receive an error when logging in if their new user name is longer than 20 Characters. Spring 2011 Orientation Cancelled

Due to inclement weather, the UACCM Spring 2011 Orientation will not be held on it's rescheduled date of Tuesday, January 11. With classes still scheduled to begin on Wednesday, January 12, the decision has been made to not reschedule the orientation for another date. No word yet regarding if the campus will be completely closed. I will update this post as soon as the official decision has been made. UPDATE:  The UACCM Campus will be open Tuesday, January 11th at 10 am. All employees Should report to work by 10 am. Orientation for Spring 2011 on Jan. 11 has been cancelled. Students should check our Facebook and Blog tomorrow for updated information concerning orientation information and requirements.
