UACCM to show 'Furious 7' for July's Starlight Cinema

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will show “Furious 7” Tuesday, July 14, for Starlight Cinema, a free community movie night. The movie will start at sundown, around 8:30 p.m., on the lawn outside the Fine Arts Auditorium at UACCM. The free event is not ticketed, and guests should bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. A free concession stand will open at 8:15 p.m. with popcorn and drinks while supplies last. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors to the Fine Arts Auditorium. In the movie, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his tight-knit gang of street racers must battle the brother of a defeated nemesis and rescue a software genius from terrorists. The film is dedicated to series regular Paul Walker, who died halfway through production. The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Foundation’s 10th annual “Links for Learning” golf tournament fundraiser raised just over $12,500. The tournament was held May 21 at the Morrilton Country Club. Winners each received gift boxes from Petit Jean Meats. The movie will start at sundown, around 8:15 p.m., on the lawn outside The Plaza at UACCM. The free event is not ticketed, and guests should bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. A free concession stand will open at 8:00 p.m. with popcorn and drinks while supplies last. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors to the Fine Arts Auditorium. UACCM RECEIVES ARKANSAS JOB DRIVEN NATIONAL EMERGENCY GRANT

The Arkansas Department of Workforce Services has awarded the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton an Arkansas Job Driven National Emergency Grant to train jobseekers in a four-week, multi-craft program. UACCM worked with local employers including Wonder State Box, RockTenn, and Kimberly-Clark Corporation to design a class that will meet their workforce needs. This program will provide general technical skills for individuals seeking manufacturing employment opportunities throughout the UACCM six-county service area. The pre-employment training program allows participants to gain basic skills in the following areas: basic electrical theory, electrical motors, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, general safety protocols, soft skills, and interview skills.
