Night of Luminaries is Back!

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton invites the community to its Night of Luminaries, Thursday, Dec. 2, following the Morrilton Christmas parade. This free, family-friendly event is expected to start around 6:00 p.m. or as soon as Santa Claus can make his way from the parade to UACCM. The campus will be lined with more than 2,000 luminary bags, decorated by Conway County children, and the community is invited to walk through to view the artwork on the beautifully lit bags. Also enjoy cookies and hot cocoa served by UACCM faculty and staff to all who attend the event.  Participating schools and organizations that helped in decorating luminary bags include Conway County Center for Exceptional Children, Morrilton Primary, Morrilton Elementary, Morrilton Intermediate, Nemo Vista Elementary, Sacred Heart Elementary, Wonderview Elementary, and Riverview Baptist Christian School. UACCM Pageant Set for December 18

The SkillsUSA chapter will host the fourteenth annual UACCM Pageant on Saturday, December 18, 2021. The pageant will begin at 10 a.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the UACCM campus. The Ms. UACCM portion of the pageant is open to current UACCM students, while girls between the ages of birth and 18 years are invited to compete in seven other categories. Those competing for the title of Ms. UACCM will be judged on beauty, professionalism, speech presentation, and interview skills. The winner of the Ms. UACCM division will receive a $1,000 scholarship to UACCM, and the first alternate will receive a $500 scholarship. The pageant will run throughout the day, beginning with a welcome at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend and admission to the event is $3. Children under age four get in free. Construction Technology Program Receives New Simulation Equipment

In a program like Construction Technology, providing hands-on experience before students start their internship or enter the workforce can be a challenge. Thanks to a grant from the Office of Skills Development and a donation from the Arkansas Contractor Licensing Board, students now have a safe environment to learn heavy equipment operation and test their skills.  The Cat ® Simulator, now installed in Technology Building II, features interchangeable controls so that students can learn how to operate a variety of heavy equipment. The simulator also mimics the movement students would feel if they were in the cab of heavy equipment: tilting up as they go up an incline, shifting as they dig with the excavator, and vibrating with the rumble of the engine. All of this helps students experience what it’s like to operate this equipment in a safe, supervised space. The simulator also serves as an evaluation tool. Advising & Registration for Spring '22

University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton has begun the advising and registration window for the spring semester.  Current students can visit www.uaccm.edu/student/advising/ to book an advising appointment. During the appointment, the advisor will help the student select courses and address any academic questions or concerns. After the advising appointment, the registration hold will be removed and the student can register online through Campus Connect.  For more on self-registration, visit the Academic Advising webpage. New students will meet with an academic advisor to register for classes. New students can book an advising appointment online at the link above.
