Night of Luminaries Set for Dec. 7

  The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) invites the community to its Night of Luminaries, Thursday, Dec. 7, following the Conway County Christmas parade. This free, family-friendly event will begin at 6 p.m. The campus will be lined with more than 2,500 luminary bags, decorated by Conway County children, and the community is invited to walk through to view the artwork on the beautifully lit bags. Also enjoy cookies and hot cocoa served by UACCM faculty and staff to all who attend the event. Participating schools and organizations that helped in decorating luminary bags include Conway County Center for Exceptional Children, Morrilton Primary, Morrilton Elementary, Morrilton Intermediate, Nemo Vista Elementary, Sacred Heart Elementary, Wonderview Elementary, Earle Love Child Study Center, and Riverview Baptist Christian School. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be available to visit with children and hand out gifts in the area between the Fine Arts Building

JONES NAMED DIRECTOR OF STUDENT DEVELOPMENT

  The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) has named Abby Jones as Director of Student Development.  Jones has been with UACCM since 2018, previously serving as Student Development Counselor. UACCM Vice Chancellor of Student Services Darren Jones said, “We are extremely fortunate to have Abby at UACCM. Her passion for our students, both academically and personally, is immediately apparent and made the decision to name her Director of Student Development an easy one. There is no doubt that Student Development will continue to grow under her leadership.”  Jones is a Russellville native and graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2013. Jones received a Master of Science degree from the University of Arkansas in 2015. Get to know Miss UACCM 2023

  Earlier this month, Zaybrau Williams, from Dardanelle, was named Miss UACCM in the fifteenth annual Miss UACCM pageant.  Zaybrau was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the UACCM’s Chancellor’s Office, a floral bouquet courtesy of Plummer’s Flowers and Gifts, Morrilton, and gifts cards from Elia’s Mexican Grill, Morrilton, and Red Barn Market, Conway. Get to know Miss UACCM 2023, Zaybrau Williams, a little more. Why did you choose UACCM? I chose UACCM because of the community size and the various opportunities that are available to me. From being raised in a small community, UACCM felt like home. Everyone is so helpful and welcoming, it made choosing UACCM so easy. What are your educational and career goals? I am majoring in General Education. Once I finish with my associate degree here at UACCM, I plan to attend the University of Arkansas Medical School (UAMS) to further my education in Sonography. WILLIAMS NAMED MISS UACCM 20223

Zaybrau Williams, 19, of Dardanelle was crowned Ms. UACCM 2023 after competing in the fifteenth annual UACCM Pageant on Saturday, November 4, at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s Fine Arts Auditorium. Williams is the daughter of Angela Thompson of Dardanelle. She is in her third semester, earning an Associate of Arts in General Education degree. Upon graduating from UACCM, Williams plans to continue her education to become an ultrasound technician. Williams was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the UACCM’s Chancellor’s Office, a floral bouquet courtesy of Plummer’s Flowers and Gifts, Morrilton, and gifts cards from Elia’s Mexican Grill, Morrilton, and Red Barn Market, Conway. The first runner-up, Jailyn Mims-Crawford of Conway, was awarded a $500 scholarship from the UACCM Chancellor’s Office. She is the daughter of Jeffery Crawford and Nicole Mims of Conway. NOVEMBER STUDENT OF THE MONTH: GARRETT EIDSON

  Throughout the month of October, the UACCM Student Success Center reviewed nominations from faculty and staff regarding who they feel should be selected as student of the month. Garrett Eidson has been chosen as November's student of the month! Garrett is in his second year at UACCM, pursuing an Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Service Technology. After graduation, Garrett plans to go into the workforce and hopes to start a career at a local Ford dealership.    We asked Garrett to share his favorite thing about UACCM. He said he has enjoyed becoming proficient in a trade that he loves, all while having an affordable college experience.  Garrett told us that his future does not seem as narrow since attending UACCM. He said UACCM has an excellent automotive program and instructors. Garrett advises all current and future Timberwolves to respect their teachers, fellow students, and above all else, themselves.
