The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) is seeking comments from the public about the College in preparation for its periodic evaluation by its regional accrediting agency. The College will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit November 7-9, 2011, by a team representing The Higher Learning Commission, a Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. UACCM has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 1993. The team will review the institution’s ongoing ability to meet the Commission’s Criteria for Accreditation. WHEN SHOULD YOU EXPECT YOUR REFUND

If you are expecting to receive Pell Grant funds, scholarship funds, SEOG or student loan funds, the money will first be applied to any outstanding balances at UACCM automatically. After expenses, any remaining funds will refunded to you. Since there is a two week refund policy for tuition and books, financial aid refunds cannot be processed until after the  first two weeks of classes . Reconciling all charges to each student account typically takes another week, and cutting checks and ordering funds an additional week. Refunds will be issued in this order: loans, Pell Grants, scholarships, SEOG, and all others. Targeted Processing Dates: ·        Loans processed the  fifth week of classes  for fall and spring semesters and second week of summer semesters. ·        Pell Grants processed the  fifth week of classes  for fall and spring semesters and second week of summer semesters. ·        Remainder of aid processed the  sixth week and later These are only target dates. UACCM UNIVERSITY BLVD. PROMENADE

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton is set to begin phase one of the University Boulevard Promenade building project thanks to a $210,000 grant from the Arkansas Highway Commission. The Promenade will be a walking path that will allow students to travel safely along University Boulevard from the main sections of the campus to the University Bookstore. The path will be equipped with lighting, park benches, and two bridges that will span the creek which travels through the middle of the campus. Construction is expected to begin in the Spring of 2012 and work is already underway to apply for a second grant to complete phase two of the project. The project was made possible by the $12 million in federal funding allotted to the Arkansas Highway Commission for local Transportation Enhancement Program projects in Arkansas for 2011. The UACCM Promenade was one of the 74 projects covered by these funds. The Enhancement category of funding was created by Congress

AIMING FOR EDUCATION!

Aiming for Education The fourth annual “Aiming for Education” Skeet Shoot fundraiser for the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Foundation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Point Remove Lodge in Hattieville. The UACCM Foundation hopes to raise proceeds that will help provide broader opportunities and services to our students and the residents of the College’s service area.   “Aiming for Education” will consist of 15 three-person skeet shooting teams, and will also feature a youth clay shoot contest open to 40 youth participants. The cost of entry for the adult skeet shoot is $50 per player or $150 for each three-person team, and 10, 12, and 20-gauge ammunition will be provided. Mixed teams of men and women are welcome. The cost of entry for the youth trap shoot is $25 for each participant, which includes a Ducks Unlimited Greenwing membership. A casual dinner will be served at the close of the event. Griffin Announces Continuation of ‘Jump-Starting Jobs Tour’

 Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) announced more details of his “Jump-Starting Jobs Tour,” a series of town hall-style meetings that he is hosting throughout the Second District over the month of August .  Yesterday, Griffin held similar events in Conway and Little Rock.  After completion of the Jump-Starting Jobs Tour, Griffin will have held 24 town hall-styled meetings in the District in the eight months since taking office.    The media and the public are encouraged to attend.  Statement from Rep.
