Summer is normally a time when the last place a child wants to be is at school… until now! The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Community Education Center is bringing back Kids College. Children entering first through third grades can experience a full week of imagination, education, and fun at UACCM this summer! Through educational adventures from the Great Plains to the Great Barrier Reef, they will revisit the days of the Pony Express and explore the coast of Australia. Parents can choose one of two weeks, July 8-11 or July 15-18, for their child to join in the summer fun at Kids College. Classes start at 8:00 a.m. each day and end at 2:30 p.m. in the UACCM Kirk Building Rooms 116-119. The cost to attend the four-day excursion is $70 per child. Participating children should bring a sack lunch and an afternoon snack Monday through Wednesday, but pizza will be served on Thursday. The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) is offering several exciting options for area youth to participate in fun and educational programs during the summer months. Participants will be able to conduct science experiments, perform a musical production, or go on an imaginary journey across the Serengeti Desert! “Super Scientists” is a summer camp for those inquisitive, science-minded young students. They will experience the fun of building a scaled model of Mount Saint Helens, perform quasi-forensic analysis of "solid waste," collect and grow their own microbial cultures, perform anatomy dissections and many more memorable experiences while participating in the science camp. “Super Scientists” will be held on June 18-21 from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. Lunch will be provided. The camp is $150 per child and will be open to all children who will be entering grades 4-6. Attention area kids and parents! Registration for the 2011 Kid’s College at UACCM is now open . This year, Kid’s College will take the imaginations of area first through third graders to the top of the world by guiding them on an amazing “Polar Expedition” to explore the sights and sounds of the Arctic Circle. Participants will also climb aboard the “Space Ship Discovery” and blast off to the furthest reaches of outer space. The fun-filled week is scheduled for July 11 through 14, 2011.  During Kid’s College, students will attend class each day from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Business Technology Center on the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s campus.
