2024-25 FAFSA Update For Students

Image
The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton, along with other institutions of higher education around the United States, have been undergoing changes regarding the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The US Department of Education has implemented the redesign of FAFSA, called "FAFSA Simplification," which has caused delays in the usual awarding of student aid.   FAFSA applications were not available to students until January (compared to October previously) and UACCM did not start receiving FAFSA files with student information until April (compared to December previously).     After receiving the files, UACCM has had to go through software updates to ensure the UACCM Financial Aid Office is able to award Fall students. This, compounded with the UACCM Workday Student Information System conversion, has caused many delays in the process.   UACCM is now receiving FAFSA information on students and awarding as quickly as possible....

Student Spotlight: Rebekah Pendergraft

Image
Rebekah Pendergraft, from Conway, earned her associate’s degree through the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) before many other students get their high school diploma. Through UACCM’s concurrent enrollment program, Rebekah was able to wrap up her Associate of Arts in General Education degree at only 16 years old.  “I am very thankful UACCM allowed me to take classes and provided a truly great education. I loved my instructors, and they were good to work with whenever I needed help or had to miss class due to an extracurricular high school activity,” said Rebekah, who outside of classes is a swimmer and diver, violist, and avid reader. Given her unique schedule, Rebekah says one of the most important lessons she learned while at UACCM was time management, saying that it was important to her to turn in assignments and papers one day before their due dates.  Rebekah also credits a couple of UACCM instructors for impacting her future.  “Mr. Trower ...

Beck was a member of UACCM from August 2007 to May 2009, where she graduated with honors. She received a transfer scholarship to Arkansas Tech University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology in May 2011. In May 2016, she graduated from Brandeis University with a master’s degree in public policy.  She says that the American Government class she took at UACCM helped put her on the path she would take in life. “I had always enjoyed history and government, to some extent, but I’m not sure I realized how interested in government I was yet. I had fun being able to dig into the weeds of that part of American ...
