UACCM Announces Conway County Christian Clinic Nursing Scholarship Endowment Fund

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton is pleased to announce the establishment of the Conway County Christian Clinic Nursing Scholarship Endowment Fund.  This scholarship was made possible with a generous donation of $47,000 from the Conway County Christian Clinic Board. Workforce and Community Education Offering Evening Basic Welding Course

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM), in conjunction with the Arkansas Sector Partnership National Emergency Grant (ASP Grant), will offer an eight-week, pre-employment basic welding training program beginning August 22. The evening program will be held on the UACCM campus and will run from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. every Monday through Friday from August 22 through October 14. The course is designed to provide short-term training that prepares individuals to make a sustainable wage in the welding field. The training includes theory, manipulative skills, safety and related shop practices involving the use of oxyacetylene cutting, plasma cutting, gas metal arc welding and electric arc stick welding. Students who successfully complete this course will be able to identify welding processes, techniques of fusion, brazing, soldering, and arc welding. Short-Term, Non-Credit Commercial Driver Training (CDT) Program Offered

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s Workforce Training and Community Education department is taking applications for the next group of students in the Commercial Driver Training (CDT) Program. The UACCM Commercial Driver Training class is a four-week, 160-hour training program. Upon completion of the program, students will be tested by the State Police or a third party tester for their Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Tuition and fees total $3,500; however, applicants who are currently unemployed or underemployed may qualify for special grants or scholarships. There will be additional fees for the CDL packet and written and skills exams. These fees are not included, and will be the responsibility of the participants. Wayne Smith Trucking of Morrilton donated a 2007 Great Dane trailer for the training, and the college is leasing a tractor for the driving portion of the class.
