Make 'Em Laugh

UACCM/Soundscape Present MAKE 'EM LAUGH! E. E. Cummings once said, “The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.”   On May 3 rd and May 5 th @7:00 p.m., UACCM Soundscape will give you an opportunity to make the most of your day with their show “Make ‘Em Laugh”.   It will be held at the Leadership Development Institute in downtown Morrilton and will be filled with some of the funniest songs from the Broadway stage from shows such as Annie Get Your Gun, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, A Chorus Line, Anything Goes, 25 th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Wicked , and many more.   Tickets are $10 and will include a spread of “funny foods” for audience members to indulge in.   To purchase your tickets call Janie Wagner at (501)215-4900 or e-mail wagner@uaccm.edu .   Grab a friend and come join in the fun!

ADHE Unveils YOUniversal Financial Aid App

The Department of Higher Education unveiled Monday a free smart phone application – the first of its kind with customer service help available via text – for Arkansans to apply for state financial aid and check the status of their awards. It was developed by the Information Network of Arkansas, the agency that develops websites and online applications for other state agencies.   “This smart phone application will allow students to complete the YOUniversal financial aid scholarship application from their iPhone, Android, or other device with a browser,” said Shane Broadway, interim director for ADHE, “as easily as they would on our website. They’ll also be able to check their status and accept awards from their handheld.”   Beginning this year the deadline for application for all of the state’s 21 programs will be June 1 for both the fall and spring semesters for the upcoming academic year.   Additionally, changes to the Academic Challenge Scholarship – the state’s largest financial aid

Due to threatening tornado activity and severe weather in the Central Arkansas area, UACCM will be closed beginning at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, April 26th. This closing includes the cancellation of classes for April 26th beginning at 4:30 pm

Student Recognition Ceremony

TAKING A MOMENT TO RECOGNIZE OUR STUDENTS The fourth annual UACCM Student Recognition Ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium . During the ceremony, UACCM students who have been nominated by instructors and student organization sponsors for showing excellence in the pursuit of their studies and overall college careers will be publicly recognized for their efforts. The ceremony will be followed by a reception with refreshments in the UACCM Plaza. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and reception.

UACCM Instructor Will Offer An Educational Trip To New York

Please join UACCM Department of Fine Arts instructor Tina Lake on an educational trip of a lifetime to New York City: The Visual Arts. The five day trip will leave on May 17th, 2012 from the Little Rock Airport. There, we will explore architectural sites such as Frank Lloyd Wright’s Guggenheim Museum, the Empire State Building, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Metropolitan Museum, Ellis island and the Statue of Liberty, Central Park and the Medieval Cloisters. The trip includes a tour guide to all scheduled sites, all breakfasts and dinners are included in this tour price, as are all entrance fees to museums, including a ticket for a Broadway show. UACCM GRAPHIC DESIGNER WINS PARAGON AWARD

         UACCM graphic/web designer Trevor Mize was recently honored with a bronze Paragon Award from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) in the category of best college Web site. The awards were announced at NCMPR’s national conference in Philadelphia, PA in March. The UACCM Web site was voted third best in the country among competing two-year colleges by a national panel of judges. Entries in the category of Web site were judged based on content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity, and overall experience. The National Council for Marketing and Public Relations is an affiliate of the American Association of Community Colleges, and is the only organization exclusively designed for marketing and public relations personnel from the country’s community, junior and technical colleges. Links for Learning 2011

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) Foundation is making preparations for its sixth annual “Links for Learning” fund-raising golf tournament. The three-person scramble tournament is scheduled for May 19 at the Morrilton Country Club with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. The cost of entry for the tournament is $75 per person or $225 for each three-person team. Players will receive access to a golf cart, snacks and beverages throughout the day, lunch, access to an awards ceremony reception and a gift bag with each paid entry fee. The awards ceremony reception will be in the Morrilton Country Club dining room following the tournament, and prizes will be awarded for top scorers in three flights. There will be a hole-in-one contest, a putting contest, and chances to improve overall scores through donations. UACCM Theatre Presents "The Glass Menagerie"

UACCM Theatre will present The Glass Menagerie , by Tennessee Williams in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the UACCM campus on April 14 th , 15 th , and 16 th at 7:30 pm, and on April 17 th at 2:30 pm.   The Glass Menagerie is a drama of great tenderness, charm, and beauty and is one of the most famous plays of the modern theatre.  Tickets are available at the door and are free to all students from any school and UACCM faculty and staff.  All other tickets are $8.00.  Come enjoy this classic drama by one of theatre’s most treasured playwrights.

Graduate Surveys on ANGEL

Attention students who are completing their highest award (a certificate of proficiency, certificate, or degree) this spring or summer! If you are graduating in the spring or summer, you should take the survey on your ANGEL account. The survey will close Friday, May 6th. We use the results of the Graduate Survey for assessing our programs and getting feedback on UACCM. Their feedback is completely confidential, no IP addresses are saved in their responses. If a student is completing a certificate or degree and a survey is not posted to his/her ANGEL account, they need to contact Clara Paquette @ (501) 977 - 2157. Thank you.
