#FacultyFriday: Brian Lum

For this #FacultyFriday, we are heading to the shop to meet Industrial Mechanics and Maintenance Technology Instructor, Brian Lum!

Brian has been an instructor at UACCM for five years. When asked what his favorite part of working at UACCM is, he said it’s the atmosphere, including the, “Wicked awesome staff, crazy smart faculty, and hungry for education students.” He enjoys seeing all of the hard work from the students translate to changed lives.

When Brian isn’t working at the school, he says he is most likely at home working on projects. Some of his hobbies include dirt bikes, his animals, traveling, and “annoying [his] rad wife.”

When asked why students should choose UACCM, Brian considers himself well-versed when it comes to choosing colleges and universities. “As a student, I have been to nine different institutions,” Brian said. “UACCM brings to the table the same educational content the big universities do, but in a smaller environment. This smaller environment allows the instructors to teach more one-on-one.” He also says faculty can easily adapt to the students learning needs. “Again, as a frequent flyer, I can assure you, there is not a better value for your money than what you will receive at UACCM. Big school learnin’ at a small-town price. Win-win-win.”

Lastly, Brian adds that UACCM students should know that life is not easy, but, “get up, dust yourself off, roll your cuffs up and look over your shoulder.” You are backed by faculty and staff that will fight to help you be successful. “You are never alone, never settle for mediocracy, you are a Rockstar, and I am your biggest fan.”
