WILLIAMS NAMED MISS UACCM 20223

Zaybrau Williams, 19, of Dardanelle was crowned Ms. UACCM 2023 after competing in the fifteenth annual UACCM Pageant on Saturday, November 4, at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s Fine Arts Auditorium.

Williams is the daughter of Angela Thompson of Dardanelle. She is in her third semester, earning an Associate of Arts in General Education degree. Upon graduating from UACCM, Williams plans to continue her education to become an ultrasound technician.

Williams was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the UACCM’s Chancellor’s Office, a floral bouquet courtesy of Plummer’s Flowers and Gifts, Morrilton, and gifts cards from Elia’s Mexican Grill, Morrilton, and Red Barn Market, Conway.

The first runner-up, Jailyn Mims-Crawford of Conway, was awarded a $500 scholarship from the UACCM Chancellor’s Office. She is the daughter of Jeffery Crawford and Nicole Mims of Conway. Mims-Crawford is in her third semester, earning an Associate of Science in Liberal Arts degree.

Hosted by UACCM’s SkillsUSA chapter, the pageant was open to current UACCM students and girls between the ages of birth and 18 years old. Apart from seven additional categories, those who competed for the title of Ms. UACCM were judged on beauty, professionalism, speech presentation, and interview skills.

“We are so thankful for all of the contestants, their families and friends who supported the pageant, and businesses who purchased an ad or sponsored the pageant.” Linda Zambrano, pageant director, said. “All of the proceeds from the pageant go to the UACCM SkillsUSA chapter to send students to state and national competitions, so our students appreciate the generous support of all.”

Little Miss UACCM: Jersey Massey, Morrilton, daughter of Marquez Massey and Kasja Thuston

1st Runner-Up: Emalyn Hart, Clinton, daughter of Joseph and Morgan Hart

2nd Runner-Up: Zoey Baltz, Alma, daughter of Jeff and Tiffani Baltz

Princess Miss UACCM: Payslee Crotts, Lamar, daughter of Jonathan and Lacey Crotts

1st Runner-Up: Faith Padgett, Dardanelle, daughter of Anthony and Wendy Padgett

Pre-Teen Miss UACCM: Alyssa Tolliver, Morrilton, daughter of Steven and Frances Tolliver

Teen Miss UACCM: Madelyn Whiteside, Fordyce, daughter of Alanna Whiteside of Fordyce and Jeremy and Cheryl Whiteside of Sheridan

1st Runner-Up: Isabella Rogers, Morrilton, daughter of Chris and Jennifer Rogers

Ms. UACCM: Zaybrau Williams, Dardanelle, daughter of Angela Thompson

1st Runner-Up: Jailyn Mims-Crawford, Conway, daughter of Jeffery Crawford and Nicole Mims

2nd Runner-Up: Ashley James, Clinton, daughter of Dale and Amanda James

3rd Runner-Up: Ayani Criswell, Plumerville, daughter of Stephanie Robinson

4th Runner-Up: Javiana Geraldson, Conway, daughter of Crystal Geraldson

The year's most outstanding students at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton were honored at the Student Recognition Awards Ceremony, an annual gathering of faculty, staff, and families joining students to celebrate their accomplishments. Four Decades of Gratitude: Newsome Reflects on 43-Year Career with UACCM

Mary Newsome, Assistant to the Chancellor of the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) and UACCM’s longest serving employee in the history of the institution, has announced she will retire after 43 years of service on May 7, 2024.  Friends and members of the community are welcome to join in celebrating Newsome and wish her luck in retirement during her retirement party on Friday, May 3, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Dr. Larry D. Davis Workforce Training Center on the campus of UACCM. “Mary Newsome is the epitome of class, dedication, honor, and loyalty.
