Norman & Wingo Family Honor Mother with Nursing Classroom
The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) has dedicated a classroom in its new Nursing and Science Center to long-time Morrilton resident Sue (Suzanne) Wingo.
Wingo moved to Morrilton in 1962, where she and her husband, Virgil, raised their family of 12. Throughout her career, Wingo worked at several local businesses, including Arrow Automotive and Pioneer Southern, and completed bookkeeper training at Petit Jean Vo-Tech, now UACCM.
“I am so proud this amazing training facility is in our little town of Morrilton, and I am so proud to have my name in it,” Wingo said.
A respected member of the community, Wingo has always emphasized the values of fellowship and education—lessons she passed on to her children. The classroom dedication was made possible through a gift from her family to honor that legacy.
“After touring the Nursing and Science Center, we immediately knew that we wanted to be a part of it in some way,” said David Norman, one of Wingo’s children. “We felt this was a perfect fit to honor our mother. It reflected everything she instilled in us—her deep commitment to education, hard work, and the importance of treating others as you want to be treated.”
The Suzanne Wingo Room will host its first group of students on Wednesday when the fall semester begins at UACCM. The room will primarily hold Practical Nursing courses.
“This is an awesome gift. So many will be able to benefit from it,” Wingo said.
Several classrooms, labs, and areas on the UACCM campus are available for dedication through the UACCM Foundation.
“Families can come together and provide an impactful gift by dedicating a space in memory or in honor of someone, leaving a lasting impression that will reach and support generations of students,” said UACCM Development Officer Lauren Bryan.
