2024-25 FAFSA Update For Students

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton, along with other institutions of higher education around the United States, have been undergoing changes regarding the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The US Department of Education has implemented the redesign of FAFSA, called "FAFSA Simplification," which has caused delays in the usual awarding of student aid.

 

FAFSA applications were not available to students until January (compared to October previously) and UACCM did not start receiving FAFSA files with student information until April (compared to December previously).  

 

After receiving the files, UACCM has had to go through software updates to ensure the UACCM Financial Aid Office is able to award Fall students. This, compounded with the UACCM Workday Student Information System conversion, has caused many delays in the process.

 

UACCM is now receiving FAFSA information on students and awarding as quickly as possible. Students that have not filled out the FAFSA are highly encouraged to do so for the 2024-25 Academic Year.  

 

UACCM houses a FAFSA lab in the Financial Aid office on campus. Students and parents may fill out the FAFSA on campus and have Financial Aid staff assistance if needed. The FAFSA lab is open to walk-ins, no appointment necessary.

 

As soon as UACCM receives a FAFSA application on a student, the award process will begin.

 

UACCM understands the frustration and uneasiness this causes with students and families, but as classes begin in August, UACCM will make sure to have as many students awarded as possible and will communicate any changes or delays in awarding. Students are encouraged to check their campus email, as well as the UACCM Facebook page and Workday.
