Conway School District & UACCM Enter Partnership

Officials from Conway School District and the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) gathered in the James H. Clark Auditorium on Thursday, September 19 for an announcement and formal signing to solidify the new partnership between Conway School District and UACCM.  The partnership provides Conway High School students in various career and technical education (CTE) programs through Conway Area Career Center (CACC) the ability to earn a Certificate of Proficiency in those programs at no cost.  The ceremony featured remarks from both institutions, including a welcome from Conway High School Principal Dr. Kate Worley. October Student of the Month: Hayden Simpson

Hayden is in his first year at UACCM, pursuing an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Aided Drafting and Design degree. After graduation, Hayden plans to begin a career in Computer Aided Drafting and Design and hopes to one day return to UACCM to become a professor.   Hayden was homeschooled and says UACCM was the best fit for him because of the motivating atmosphere on campus, smaller class sizes, and affordable tuition.   Hayden says his favorite things about UACCM are the professors and their willingness to help. Many around campus may know Hayden as his other identity: UACCM’s mascot, Wolfie!   Recently Hayden represented UACCM as Wolfie during the Arkansas Razorbacks and UAPB Golden Lions football game at War Memorial Stadium in August.   We asked Hayden if he had any advice for current and future Timberwolves, he said, "Rest in-between classes. Check out the Esports Club in the Fine Arts building and take a well-deserved break.”

UACCM Breaks Ground on Nursing and Science Center

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) broke ground for the new $16 million Nursing and Science Center on Friday.  The two-story, 36,000 square-foot Nursing and Science Center will be located southwest of Technology Building II on the UACCM campus and will feature seven science labs and classrooms, ten nursing labs and classrooms, and two student lounges for studying.  In attendance for the groundbreaking was Arkansas Rep. Rick Beck, University of Arkansas System President Dr. Donald R. Bobbitt, Conway County Judge Jimmy Hart, Morrilton Mayor Allen Lipsmeyer, District Director for Rep. French Hill Jeff Pitchford, West Central Arkansas Planning and Development Program Manager of Economic Development Vicki Sexton, as well as several individuals from Crafton Tull, the architect for the project, Nabholz, the contractor for the project, and UACCM’s healthcare industry partners.  Bobbitt addressed the crowd on hand, saying, “This is a very ambitious project, but th
