UACCM TO HOST 60-YEAR COMMUNITY FESTIVAL

  To commemorate 60 years since its establishment, the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) will host a community-wide festival on Thursday, September 21. The casual, festival-style event, suitable for all ages,will begin at 4:30 p.m.   and continue until 8:00 p.m. Activities will include a car show, free food, live music, and games for the public to enjoy. Additionally, there will be a display of UACCM memorabilia from each decade since UACCM’s opening in 1963. The event will also feature several children’s games, activities, and bounce house. There will also be a special area for retirees to reminisce. There will be a brief ceremony at approximately 6:00 p.m. that will include an official welcome and introduction of several special guests including former college leaders and UACCM’s outstanding alumni of the year Bill Zellner. Zellner Named UACCM Outstanding Alumni of the Year

The University of Arkansas Community College at Arkansas (UACCM) is proud to share that Bill Zellner has been named UACCM Outstanding Alumni of the Year. Zellner was a member of Petit Jean Vocational-Technical School’s first student body in 1963 and part of the school’s first graduating class in 1964. He enrolled in the Appliance Service class and excelled as a student, which allowed him to complete the course in six months rather than the standard 12 months. As a result of his work ethic and aptitudes, Zellner taught the class for several weeks while his instructor, Bill Holcomb, was on sick leave. After graduating from Petit Jean Vo-Tech, Zellner began work as an appliance service technician. He started a small business, Zellner’s Appliance Service, in 1967 and with his wife, Judy, opened Zellner’s Appliance and TV in 1971 on Front Street in Conway. UACCM Recognized by Entergy Arkansas for Energy-Efficiency

Through its Entergy Solutions Program, Entergy Arkansas has awarded University of Arkansas Community College of Morrilton (UACCM) $12,082.70 in energy-efficiency incentives for implementation of energy-efficiency projects and operational changes between 2019 – 2022.  The Entergy Solutions Program provides technical and financial support to help Entergy Arkansas customers identify and implement projects that reduce energy usage. In addition to the incentives, due to the energy efficiency project and operational changes, UACCM has also saved an estimated $40,416.62 in electricity cost savings. UACCM has also received support through the CitySmart Program, which offers support specifically to institutional and public entities. The CitySmart Program helps facility supervisors understand the technical and financial benefits of investing in energy efficiency and develop an improvement plan.
