Bring your Fruit and Watch Someone get Creamed!

NOTE: Lori Gibbons' 2:20 pm class today is canceled.

Even though economic times are tough, the holidays are (almost) upon us, and our annual canned fruit drive for the Conway County Care Center has fallen short of our goal! Some brave UACCM faculty and staff members (see teams below) will risk getting "creamed” to help someone in need. Read on for more info:

Rules:

1. There will be two teams: UACCM Faculty and UACCM Staff
2. Anyone (that means you, students!) can donate cans of fruit to the team of choice.
3. Fruit will be stacked in the University Center lobby until Thursday, November 19, with staff donations on one side and faculty on the other.
4. Total cans will be counted on Thursday, November 19 at 3:00 p.m.
5. Winning team captains will get to “cream” losing team captains with whipped cream pies during x-period on Tuesday, November 24.
6. Join in the fun…bring some canned fruit by this Thursday...it goes for a very good cause!

Beck Named Outstanding Alumni of the Year

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) is proud to share that Adrienne Beck has been named UACCM Outstanding Alumni of the Year.  Beck’s impressive career includes being accepted in the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC), fundraising with Heifer International, and working with the Arkansas Bureau of Legislative Research. Beck was a member of UACCM from August 2007 to May 2009, where she graduated with honors. She received a transfer scholarship to Arkansas Tech University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology in May 2011. In May 2016, she graduated from Brandeis University with a master’s degree in public policy.  She says that the American Government class she took at UACCM helped put her on the path she would take in life. “I had always enjoyed history and government, to some extent, but I’m not sure I realized how interested in government I was yet. Fillippino Named UACCM Dean of General Education

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) has named Dr. Tonja Fillippino as its new dean of General Education. Fillippino began her career in 2003 as an assistant professor at Arkansas State University where she was promoted to Associate Professor. She would later be named Coordinator for Teacher Education on the ASU-Beebe campus. Additionally, Fillippino was named Advisor of the Year and Teach of the Year in 2021 for the College of Education and Behavioral Science.  Fillippino earned an Associate of Arts in Elementary Education degree from Tulsa Community College in Tulsa, Oklahoma, followed by a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where she also received a Master of Education in Educational Leadership degree.
