Sidney Moncrief To Speak at UACCM Event

Sidney Moncrief — the former Razorback All-American, five-time NBA All Star, and two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year — will give a presentation titled “Achieving Greatness” on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on campus. This event is being held in celebration of Black History Month. Sidney Moncrief Moncrief, a Little Rock native, was part of the team that carried the Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball team to the Southwest Conference championship, as well as a Final Four appearance in 1978. He held the university’s all-time leading scorer record until Todd Day broke his record in 1992. As the 5th overall draft pick in the NBA, Moncrief went to the Milwaukee Bucks in 1979, spending the next 10 seasons with the team, and garnering a reputation as a tenaciously defensive player on the court. Public Invited To Attend UACCM International Travel Interest Meetings

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will hold two international travel interest meetings to discuss a trip to Italy later this year and a trip to Iceland in 2019. Everyone is welcome to attend, including students, faculty, staff, and community members. The first meeting will be on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 3:30 p.m. in University Center Room 214, followed by a Thursday, Feb. 1 meeting at 12:05 p.m. at the same location. The 2018 trip to Italy comprises tours of Florence and Rome between May 25 and June 1, and the 2019 trip to Iceland will feature a tour of Reykjavik, the nation’s capital, as well as several geological locations during the Spring Break of that year. UACCM Adult Education Clinton Site To Offer Evening Class

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s Adult Education Center in Clinton will soon launch a six-week evening class beginning Monday, Feb. 5.  The class — which is designed to enhance basic skills, as well as prepare students for the GED exam — will meet from 4:30-7 p.m. each Monday through March 12 inside the UACCM Adult Education Center located at 100 Success Drive, Clinton, Ark. The minimum age for enrollment is 18, and all interested students must complete the registration process during Admissions Day on Monday, Jan. 29 from 4:30-7 p.m. All instruction at any UACCM Adult Education Center is free of charge. Each facility offers various programs, including adult basic education, English Language Learners (ESL), college prep, and Workforce Alliance & Growth in the Economy (WAGE) — a series of stackable certifications in partnership with local businesses and industries to prepare participants for workforce careers. Foundation Scholarship Established In Memory of Wade Walters

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton is now accepting applications for the Wade Walters Foundation Scholarship. One $500 scholarship is available for the spring 2018 semester, with priority given to students from Pope County. Susan Allen, mother of Wade Walters, signs documents to approve the Wade Walters Foundation Scholarship during a Dec. 1 meeting. UACCM Students, Donors Meet for Private Scholarship Luncheon

Members of the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s Foundation Board, donors, administrative staff, faculty, and industry leaders, met with students who collectively had received nearly $10,000 in private scholarships during an on-campus luncheon on Nov. 1. “The sixth annual Private Scholarship Donor Recognition Luncheon was our largest to date with nearly 70 people in attendance,” Anne Cadle, UACCM’s Development Officer, said. “The donors enjoy learning how their gifts positively affect the lives of the students, helping them reach their educational goals. UACCM Student Group Now Taking Donations for Room 29:11

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton's Early Childhood Student Organization will be collecting pajamas, socks, and underwear in children's sizes 5-14 for Room 29:11, a local charity working to help meet the needs of children in foster care and guardianship situations in Conway County. Donations can be dropped off until Dec. 17 outside of Room 116 inside the Kirk Building on campus.

Dates Set for Fall 2017 Graduation Ceremonies

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will hold five graduation ceremonies for its fall 2017 graduates beginning Monday, Dec. 4. Each ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on campus, followed by a reception in the Student Union where families may take pictures and meet with UACCM’s faculty and staff.
