UACCM Holds Spring Commencement Excercises

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton held its commencement exercises on Saturday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m. in the H.B. White Auditorium on the Morrilton High School campus. UACCM To Hold Information Session For Petroleoum Technology Degree

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton is hosting a free information session on Monday evening, May 22 at 6:00 p.m. for individuals interested in the new Associate of Applied Science degree in Petroleum Technology. The meeting will be held in the UACCM Fine Arts Auditorium and will include information about degree requirements and job opportunities in the emerging career field of natural gas drilling, production, and operations. Marion Bond, Employee Relations Supervisor of Southwestern Energy Company, will be present to answer questions regarding careers, salaries, and the employment outlook for jobs related to the natural gas industry.  Beginning this August, UACCM will offer the Associate of Applied Science degree in Petroleum Technology. UACCM Gets the Green Light For Petroleoum Technology Degree

With the stamp of approval to begin offering an Associate of Applied Science degree in petroleum technology, the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) is gearing up for its role in a business venture that could pump millions of dollars into the state’s economy. During its quarterly meeting on April 28, the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board (AHECB) gave the green light to the college for the startup of the new degree. The UACCM Board of Visitors and the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees had previously approved a proposal by UACCM to offer the one-of-a-kind degree, which will be launched during the fall 2006 semester. UA Community College at Morrilton develops Associate degree to meet the demands of expected workforce needs in the Fayetteville Shale play region. April 18, 2006 – As a part of its leadership role in the growing Fayetteville Shale play area, Southwestern Energy Company (NYSE: SWN) today announced a three-year pledge totaling $200,000 to the University of  Arkansas Community College at Morrilton. The funds will fuel efforts to develop the College’s new Associate of Applied Science degree in Petroleum Technology. UACCM Spring Enrollment Sets Record

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton has reported a record-setting enrollment of 1538 students for the Spring 2006 semester, an increase of 3.3 percent above the Spring 2005 semester. The official report was submitted to the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) on the 11th class day.   Full-time students make up 65 percent of the student body. Thirty-five percent are considered part-time students, enrolled in courses ranging from 1 to 11 credit hours.  Students enrolled in technical, business, health, and service-related occupational programs account for 47 percent of the student body. Students pursing Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees, two-year degrees designed for university-transfer, account for 41 percent of credit students. The remaining 12 percent are non-degree seeking students, undeclared majors, students enrolled in cooperative programs, and concurrently enrolled high school students. UACCM Art Student Snares Grand Prize at Collegiate Competition

Caleb McNew, a UACCM fine arts major, was honored Sunday, February 5, 2006, at the Arkansas River Valley Arts Center in Russellville. McNew won the Grand Prize Award at the  19th Annual Collegiate Art Competition and Exhibition  sponsored by CenturyTel. His work, a large triple self-portrait, was selected from almost 100 entries in the competition. McNew, who resides in Plumerville, has been enrolled at UACCM since fall 2004. His advisor is Art Instructor Tina Lake. UACCM fine arts major  Caleb McNew stands in front of  his award-winning self-portrait. Each year, art students from college campuses around the region, including the University of Central Arkansas, Arkansas Tech University, University of the Ozarks, and UACCM  compete in this time-honored exhibition. UACCM Holds Fall Commencement Exerises

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton held its commencement exercises on Friday, December 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the H.B. White Auditorium on the Morrilton High School campus. There were 116 candidates for graduation.   Linda Zambrano, a business instructor at UACCM, was the graduation speaker. Zambrano was selected as the recipient of the 2005 Postsecondary Teacher of the Year Award from the Southern Business Education Association (SBEA), one of five regional divisions of the National Business Education Association (NBEA).  She also received the 2004 Outstanding Faculty of the Year Award at UACCM. UACCM graduate Deborah Diaz was recognized as the college’s 2005 Academic All-Star. Diaz graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in general education. She was selected as the college’s Academic All-Star based on her academic achievements, leadership ability, academic honors, community service, recommendation letters, essay and interview.
