English faculty members at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton collected dozens of books for the Morrilton Little Free Library, gathering donations from employees and students throughout campus last December.

“As English instructors and book lovers, we know strong reading skills can open doors of opportunity, and books can be great friends,” said Lyndsey Daniel, a UACCM English instructor. “Books are gifts that keep giving and giving. We wanted to help share those gifts with our community.”

Faculty members collected books covering a variety of interests, including children’s books.

The goal of the drive was to encourage campus members to be active in the community around them, combat illiteracy, and expand book access. The Little Free Library is a nonprofit that encourages community development and inspires readers through a global network of volunteer-led little libraries.

The Morrilton location is situated nearby Morrilton High School and is free for anyone to take a book.
