UACCM Group Tours Iceland Over Spring Break
UACCM tour group in Iceland |
During the week of spring break, 16 individuals affiliated with the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton traveled to Iceland. The group was comprised of students, faculty, staff, and members of the community as part of an educational tour.
The group traveled around southern Iceland, including a two-day stop in the capital of Reykjavik, and took advantage of the country’s natural beauty. They went through the Golden Circle, a sightseeing tour of popular geographical features. Along with exploring waterfalls and geysers, the group conducted a close-up examination of a glacier, where they witnessed glacial retreat through markers, photographs, and topography.
The group also had leisure time, as they soaked in Iceland’s popular geothermal bath, The Blue Lagoon, and visited several filming sites of HBO series Game of Thrones.
UACCM instructors host a trip abroad every two years. All travelers, high school age and older, are welcome, and UACCM students can earn three hours of general education credit.
Since the creation of the program to expose UACCM students to international destinations and culture, previous groups have traveled to Great Britain, Japan, Greece, Costa Rica, The Galapagos Islands, and Peru.
The next tour is scheduled to take place in 2021 with a group to visit Spain and Morocco. All are welcome, and students can earn three hours of AA General Education credit. To get the tour itenary and pricing, visit Explorica.com and insert code Daniel-2127.
