UACCM to Hold Auditions for ‘Doubt’



Auditions for the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Theatre’s production of “Doubt” will be held Monday, Feb. 4 and Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on campus. The show is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning and Tony Award-winning stage play, “Doubt: A Parable” by John Patrick Shanley.

A total of four characters, including men and women, of a variety of ages are needed to fill the required roles. Auditions are open to the public, including those not currently enrolled at or employed by UACCM. The final production will take place in April.

Carlon Family Scholarship Established at UACCM

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) is honored to share that the Carlon Family Scholarship has been established as a new endowment at the college.  The scholarship is established by Ancel Carlon, in honor of the significant impact college had on his life during his time as a student. Carlon stated that the endowment was his way of “giving back.”  The endowed scholarship will be awarded based on financial need for full-time students who meet a GPA of at least 2.5.  UACCM Director of Marketing and Public Relations Mary Clark stated, “We are so thankful to Ancel Carlon for establishing this scholarship, and I know many students will be grateful for years to come.” She continued, “Ancel is a great businessman and community leader who was inspired to give this gift because he received a scholarship that helped him pursue his own college degree and start the path to his successful career. UACCM Awarded $2M By Governor Sanders, Department of Education

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) has been awarded a $2 million grant by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Arkansas Division of Higher Education Commissioner Ken Warden, and Chief Workforce Officer Mike Rogers.  The grant is part of the Higher Industry Readiness through Educational Development (HIRED) program, which uses funding that was established by the Workforce Initiative Act of 2015. UACCM is one of 14 schools receiving a total of approximately $26 million to support workforce development efforts.  “There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to education and the HIRED Grant Program helps us meet Arkansas students, schools, and businesses where they are,” said Governor Sanders. “These grants will help build the workforce of the future and make Arkansas more competitive in industries such as steel manufacturing, aerospace and defense, lithium, and cybersecurity.”  “UACCM is very thankful for the HIRED grant award, and it is meaningfu...
