Public Invited To UACCM Chancellor Retirement Reception


The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) invites the public to attend a retirement reception honoring Chancellor Larry Davis on Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Workforce Training Center, Tyson Hall A, at 1537 University Blvd. on the UACCM campus.

Chancellor Davis will retire effective January 31, 2019, after serving in that role since 2010. Prior to his appointment as chancellor at UACCM, Davis had a 31 year career at OSU-Okmulgee followed by serving six years at ASU-Newport as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

During his tenure at UACCM, he guided the college through its North Central Association accreditation, and oversaw the creation of several new programs that met the demand of industry including commercial driver training and industrial mechanics and maintenance. One of his proudest achievements was the opening of the Workforce Training Center in April 2018 that houses the Department of Workforce Development and Community Education, and offers technical training in the fields of automotive service; air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration; industrial mechanics and maintenance and welding.

Davis also forged strong ties with the Conway County school superintendents and developed strong relationships with the region’s business and industry leaders. He was named the 2012 Earle Love Business Leader of the Year by the Morrilton Area Chamber of Commerce.

The public is invited to attend the come-and-go reception and share both memories and well-wishes.

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) is honored to share that the Carlon Family Scholarship has been established as a new endowment at the college.  The scholarship is established by Ancel Carlon, in honor of the significant impact college had on his life during his time as a student. Carlon stated that the endowment was his way of “giving back.”  The endowed scholarship will be awarded based on financial need for full-time students who meet a GPA of at least 2.5.  UACCM Director of Marketing and Public Relations Mary Clark stated, “We are so thankful to Ancel Carlon for establishing this scholarship, and I know many students will be grateful for years to come.” She continued, “Ancel is a great businessman and community leader who was inspired to give this gift because he received a scholarship that helped him pursue his own college degree and start the path to his successful career. UACCM Awarded $2M By Governor Sanders, Department of Education

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) has been awarded a $2 million grant by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Arkansas Division of Higher Education Commissioner Ken Warden, and Chief Workforce Officer Mike Rogers.  The grant is part of the Higher Industry Readiness through Educational Development (HIRED) program, which uses funding that was established by the Workforce Initiative Act of 2015. Five Programs Granted Accreditation

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) has been granted accreditation on the following programs: AAS – Computer Information Systems Technology; AAS – Computer Aided Drafting & Design Technology; AAS – Industrial Mechanics & Maintenance Technology; AAS – Surveying; and AAS – Business.  The programs were granted accreditation by The Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) Board of Accreditation.  “UACCM takes seriously the importance of ATMAE accreditation,” said UACCM Chancellor Lisa Willenberg.  “I appreciate the efforts of both the ATMAE Board of Accreditation and the UACCM team responsible for the completion of the progress report, namely UACCM Dean of Science, Technology, and Mathematics Robert Keeton.”  The ATMAE accreditation joins a list of over a dozen accreditations and approvals that UACCM currently holds, including from The Higher Learning Commission, Arkansas Division of Higher Education, Ar...
