Thomas was awarded a blue Stole of Distinction to be worn at UACCM graduation ceremonies, as well as a certificate.

The mission statement of Phi Theta Kappa is “to recognize academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders.” To become a member, students must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework that may be applied to an associate degree while maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA.

“Our induction ceremonies serve as an important opportunity to recognize our new members and officially welcome them into the fellowship of our chapter,” Mathew Herrman, a Beta Eta Sigma chapter advisor, said. “For some of these members, the induction serves as the moment of recognition for all of their efforts to be great scholars. The event also provides an opportunity to introduce the newest members to our chapter leaders, our ongoing activities, and to meet one another.”
