UACCM Administrators, Van Buren County Officials Celebrate Nursing Clinic Opening

Administrators from the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton met with Van Buren County Judge Roger Hooper and Clinton Mayor Richard McCormac on Oct. 31 to celebrate the opening of the UACCM Practical Nursing (PN) program in Clinton.

L-R: Clinton Mayor Richard McCormac, UACCM Vice Chancellor for Academic Services Diana Arn, Van Buren County Judge Roger Hooper, UACCM Chancellor Dr. Larry Davis, Division Chair of Health Professions & Natural Sciences Deborah Rodgers.
“We have worked very closely with Van Buren County officials and the Ozark Health Medical Center in Clinton to make this program a possibility,” PN Program Coordinator Sarah Koch said. “With most of our students’ clinical lab training being done at the local hospital, this clinic wouldn’t exist without their help. Judge Hooper was also a wonderful advocate for this program and we appreciate his continued support.”

Admission into the PN program in Clinton is a competitive process. There are a number of steps which must be completed before a student can be considered for admission. Students must have completed the entrance exam, the TEAS, at the college within the last three years. The entrance exam score and the grades from the prerequisite courses will be utilized in the class selection process. If they meet all requirements listed on the application, students in the Clinton and Van Buren County area will be given a priority status in the selection process, though classes for the spring 2017 semester have already been filled.
