Community Invited to Holiday Events at UACCM
The University
of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton invites the community to “The
Gingerbread Man” on Nov. 29, followed by its 14th annual Night of Luminaries on
Dec. 1.
“The Gingerbread
Man” is a touring production presented by the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s
Theatre in Little Rock. Running from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the UACCM Fine Arts
Auditorium, the show tells the classic fairy tale story of the Gingerbread Man,
who attempts to outrun the local residents and a very sly fox. Tickets are now
available, though limited to four per person. Admission is free and open to the
public.
Night of
Luminaries follows the Morrilton Christmas parade and will be held on campus.
The sidewalks of UACCM will be lined with more than 2,000 luminary bags,
decorated by Conway County children, and the community is invited to walk or
drive through to view their artwork. Participating schools and organizations
that helped decorate luminary bags include the Conway County Center for
Exceptional Children, Morrilton Primary, Morrilton Elementary, Morrilton
Intermediate, Nemo Vista Elementary, Sacred Heart Elementary, Wonderview
Elementary, Riverview Baptist Christian School, and UACCM’s Earle Love Child
Study Center.
Santa Claus will
also be available to visit with children and hand out gifts in the area between
the Fine Arts Building and Business Technology Center at UACCM. Families are
invited to bring their camera to take pictures with him, and to also enjoy
cookies and hot cocoa served by UACCM faculty and staff.
Be sure to check
the UACCM Facebook page for any last-minute updates in the event of winter
weather in the forecast. For more information about any of these holiday
events, contact Kristi Strain at (501) 977-2081, or by email at strain@uaccm.edu.
***An earlier copy of this press release incorrectly stated that Night of Luminaries is scheduled for Dec. 3. That has been changed to the correct date, Dec. 1. The event will still follow the Morrilton Christmas parade.
