Koontz Electric Pledges $50,000 To New Workforce Training Center

Koontz Electric of Morrilton has pledged $50,000 to the construction of the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s upcoming Workforce Training Center. The gift will give Koontz Electric naming rights to the Fundamentals of Electricity Lab and classroom space inside the new building.

“Training and education are essential to the development of our 200-plus employee workforce both within our apprenticeship program as well as through continued education,” Koontz Electric CEO Benny Koontz said. “Additional special technical training is also essential for the highly complex and technically demanding projects that our company has chosen to build our reputation upon.”

L-R:  Koontz Electric CFO Mark Day, Koontz Electric COO Dean Hoover, Koontz Electric President and CEO Benny Koontz, UACCM Chancellor Dr. Larry Davis, Koontz Electric Office Manager Matt Zimmerman, and UACCM Development Officer Morgan Zimmerman.

Koontz said he and his company are more than pleased to partner with UACCM in the development of the new building, citing the “essential skills” that the Workforce Training Center can provide locally.

“UACCM continues to play a key role in the economic wellbeing of Conway County and Morrilton, as well as our surrounding counties,” Koontz said. “I really believe this will help us to compete and continue to hire and train locally available talent.”

Ground work on the 53,000-SF Workforce Training Center is expected to begin this month. The new facility will house many of the college’s existing technical programs, including automotive service; welding; industrial mechanics and maintenance; and heating, air conditioning and refrigeration. An open space for workforce training will also be included in the facility for use in recruiting new industries to the area, as well as assisting current industries with workforce development needs.
