UACCM To Offer New October Workforce, Community Education Classes

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will offer several new non-credit courses next month, including Occupational Spanish for Medical Professionals and Nursing Assistant Training, beginning with an eight-week Beginning Welding Training course starting Oct. 10. All classes are sponsored by the Office of Workforce and Community Education.

Oct. 13 – Nov. 17: Individuals wishing to learn more about family tree research are encouraged to register for Genealogy, a six-class course held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each Thursday. Only the first 20 applicants will be accepted before the registration deadline on Oct. 6. Registration for the course is $30.

Oct. 14 – Nov. 16: To register for the Nursing Assistant Training course, participants must have a high school diploma or GED; ability to meet minimum scores for reading, writing and math; test negative for tuberculosis; and must be willing to undergo criminal background clearance. Registration for the course is $175, though Career Pathways Initiative scholarships are available. Participants must register by Oct. 7 to be considered.

Oct. 14 – Oct. 21: A Microsoft Word Training course will be offered from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, and Friday, Oct. 21. Ideal for self-improvement or workplace readiness, this course introduces participants to the basics of using Microsoft Word. Registration is $50 and must be paid by Oct. 7. 

Oct. 17: Heartsaver Adult CPR/AED is a course for adults wanting to increase employability or wanting to be prepared for emergency situations. Great for caregivers and babysitters as well, this course is offered for $35 but is discounted if taken alongside the Heartsaver Adult First Aid course on Oct. 20. Only the first nine applicants will be accepted before the registration deadline on Oct. 10.

Oct. 19 – Nov. 30: Occupational Spanish for Medical Professionals is a six-class course held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Wednesday. This course, offered for $125, is an excellent opportunity for physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, receptionists, clerks, ambulance personnel or any healthcare employee who wishes to improve their basic conversational skills when assisting Spanish-speaking patients. Only the first 20 applicants will be accepted by the registration deadline on Oct. 12.
