UACCM Begins Registration for Introductory Welding and HVAC Training
Registration
has begun for two of the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s
new, short-term workforce training courses.
Introductory Welding and Introductory Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning
(HVAC) are available to individuals who wish to learn skills for a new career
or to advance in their current career, as well as dislocated workers, and
long-term unemployed individuals. To
enroll in these trainings, participants must be at least 18 years old and
willing to commit to the course in its entirety.
Introductory Welding begins Monday, April 18 and meets Monday –
Friday from 6:00 – 9:30 pm. This
training goes through June 3 and covers basic welding with emphasis on Gas Tungsten
Arc Welding (GTAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW). Introductory HVAC will meet on weekdays from
April 25 through May 27 from 3:00 – 9:00 pm.
This training covers AC & refrigeration, basic electrical, and
schematics.
Participants in both programs will also get OSHA 10 certification
for general industry, craft skills. The
trainings will also contain a job search and resume component. Upon
completion of the training, participants will receive a Certificate of
Completion for the hours they actually complete.
The cost to attend one of these trainings is $400. Those who are dislocated or who have been
unemployed at least 27 weeks may be eligible for a grant that will pay the cost
of the program. The deadline to apply for this grant is April 11 for
Introductory Welding and April 18 for Introductory HVAC. Registration is available at www.uaccm.edu/workforce
