UACCM Recognizes Black History Month with Events
The
University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton, in celebration of Black
History Month, presents two free events that are open to both students and the
community. The following events are brought
to you by the UACCM Diversity & Inclusion Committee and in partnership with
the Arkansas Arts Council.
Dunbar
Traveling Exhibit, on loan from the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, will be on
UACCM’s campus February 1 – 12 and is open 10:00 am – 4:00 pm in the Student
Union of the Kirk Building. Known as the
finest high school for negro boys and girls, Dunbar High School was built in
Little Rock in 1929. The Dunbar
Traveling Exhibit was created to honor Dunbar High School’s legacy as a symbol
of opportunity, achievement, and pride in the African-American community.
Foreign
Tongues Poetry Troupe will be performing poetry on February 18 at 6:00 pm in
the Fine Arts Auditorium. Linked
together by the common thread of love for poetry, this group has over 50 years
of combined spoken word/poetry slam experience.
Foreign Tongues Poetry Troup share their gifts in order to inspire,
entertain, unlock your imagination, and bring cultural awareness.
