CENTENNIAL BANK PLEDGES $100K TO UACCM GIVE MEANING CAMPAIGN
Centennial Bank has pledged a $100,000 contribution to the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Foundation’s GIVE MEANING campaign.
Centennial Bank’s contribution is the largest corporate gift to date, as well as one of the largest gifts overall, as part of the GIVE MEANING campaign. The gift will help support construction costs of the Workforce Training Center at UACCM. As an unrestricted gift, the funds will be used where there is the greatest need in alignment with the campaign’s priorities. The contribution qualifies for a naming opportunity of the front courtyard of the Workforce Training Center.
Centennial Bank President Greg Sanson said, "We feel UACCM fills a much needed role in the education system of our state."
The new facility will bring together technical training programs, workforce development, and adaptable training space for existing and new businesses and industry into one easily accessible location on the UACCM campus. All of these services will equip the area with a qualified workforce for high-wage, high-demand careers and will provide a vital economic development tool.
UACCM Chancellor Dr. Larry Davis said, “We are so excited to have Centennial Bank as a community partner for this important economic development project and appreciate very much their level of commitment.”
Sanson also said, "The bank is excited about the Workforce Training Center being planned on the UACCM campus. Understanding the importance of this project... the bank is excited to show our support through this gift."
The $13 million facility will house many of the college’s existing technical programs including automotive service technology; heating, air conditioning a
nd refrigeration technology; and welding technology. Also to be included in the Workforce Training Center is a proposed diesel mechanics program and a new industrial mechanics and maintenance technology program which includes many classes in the petroleum technology plan of study.
In addition to technical programs, an open space for workforce training will be included in the facility for use in recruiting new industry to the area as well as in assisting current industry with workforce development needs. The training center will act as a site for the college’s Community Outreach program which develops customized training as requested by many industry partners year round. The program also provides ongoing training opportunities for unemployed and underemployed individuals. Therefore, UACCM is seeking guidance from its industry partners to ensure that the new facility meets current industry standards for training.
UACCM Development Officer Morgan Zimmerman noted the significance the contribution holds to UACCM’s student population in saying, “This contribution is representative of an area where 40 percent of our students call home. Faulkner County is extremely important to UACCM, and it’s great to have such overwhelming support from that area.”
