UACCM TO SHOW ‘BIG HERO 6’ FOR FREE MOVIE NIGHT

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton announces this year’s first “Starlight Cinema,” a free community movie night. The event will feature “Big Hero 6” Tuesday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the UACCM campus.

For this feature, UACCM is partnering with Community Service, Inc. to host a special smoke-free movie event. In an effort to promote health and wellness, this unique event features a movie that depicts no use of tobacco products, a practice that is commonly shown on the silver screen. Community Service Tobacco Prevention Coordinator Shannon Cook will be on-site with a display of literature and educational aids depicting the harmful effects of tobacco-use. Prior to show time, ads created by Arkansas students through the Big Pitch Film Festival will be shown.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The free event is not ticketed, and guests may seat themselves on a first-come, first-served basis. A free concession stand will open at 6:00 p.m. with popcorn and drinks while supplies last.

In “Big Hero 6,” when a criminal plot threatens the hi-tech metropolis of San Fransokyo, brilliant young robotics whiz Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter) leaps into action with his tech-savvy friends and his robot companion, Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), in Disney Animation's adaptation of the popular Marvel Comics series. The movie is rated PG and has a total running time of 102 minutes.

In addition to the April 28th showing of “Big Hero 6,” the tentative summer lineup for “Starlight Cinema” at UACCM has been set. Each movie will be shown on the lawn outside of the Fine Arts Building at sundown. In case of inclement weather, the movies will be shown inside the Fine Arts Auditorium beginning at 8:00 p.m. Free concessions will be provided at each event. The tentative lineup is as follows:

May 19- “American Sniper”
June 16- “Grease”
July 14- “Furious 7”
August 11- “Avengers Age of Ultron”
