Ed Rossi Donates Book to UACCM Library

World War II veteran and former Conway County Resident Edward Rossi presented The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton with a copy of the book “On Heroic Wings: Stories of the Distinguished Flying Cross.” The book features stories of over 30 aviation heroes, including Rossi, who have received the Distinguished Flying Cross award. Rossi was raised in Center Ridge and also played American Legion Baseball in Arkansas before enlisting in the Army Air Corps in August 1942. For the next several years Rossi served as a member of the 494 Bomb Group under the command of General Douglas McArthur. He flew over 40 combat missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross as well as 6 other air medals. Because of his fond memories of growing up in Conway County, Rossi felt compelled to donate a copy of this book to UACCM Library. Rossi kept an extensive diary during his time spent serving in World War II which was published as a book that can also be found in the UACCM Library.
