Welcome to the Decades Week

UACCM would like to welcome everyone back to campus for the start of the Fall 2010 semester! As we near the 50th anniversary of the college's founding, we want to pay tribute to each decade we have been in existence. The Student Government Association (SGA) has planned lots of activities this week, starting with 1960's day on Monday, August 16. Step back in time and celebrate the era of mini-skirts and tie-dyed shirts when Petit Jean Vo-Tech was established as the state's 2nd vocational technical school.
Among today's activities presented by SGA is TOTALLY TATTOOS. Come get a free air brush tattoo from 10 am to 4 pm at Union Station in the Kirk Building.

Also, stop by the “Question Tent” today – come meet your SGA president Doug Welter outside the Fine Arts Auditorium under the red tent.

1980’s Day
Drag out your neon leg warmers and Members Only jackets and represent this era of the big hair and bigger shoulder pads!
Ice cream social from 12:05 pm to 12:55 pm in Union Square, plus the Student Involvement Fair (same time, same place) where you can come meet student organizations and see how you can get involved!
Thursday, August 19
1990’s Day
The 90’s marked lots of transformations for the college, with name changes in 1991 (Petit Jean Technical College) and 1997 (Petit Jean College). Get out the washed out denim and wind suits and come watch “Iron Man 2,” today’s FREE movie from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in Union Station.
Friday, August 20
2000’s Day
The first decade of the new millennium saw our merger with the University of Arkansas System and another name change to the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton. Help us celebrate an almost 700 percent increase in enrollment since 2000 by wearing your favorite things from the past 10 years.

Comments

  1. I was kind of disappointed that only ONE person from student government came to see our display for the Decades Week. This was a great idea, but there did not seem to be very much involvement on SGA's part. That is really too bad. Is this our example to our future SGA?
