HAVE A SAFE AND FUN INDEPENDENCE DAY!

In Morrilton, the warm summer weather means it’s time for festivals, barbeques, pool parties and FREE outdoor movies! The first “Starlight Cinema” free movie night for the season at UACCM is coming up on Thursday, July 15. The featured movie is the 2009 animated comedy Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs presented free of charge in the UACCM Plaza Courtyard beginning at approximately 8:30 p.m. The movie, which will be shown on UACCM’s extra-large movie screen, is being sponsored by the college. Admission is open and free to the community in addition to UACCM students, faculty, and staff. Concessions including popcorn, drinks and candy will be available during the event.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is set on the small island of Swallow Falls where Flint Lockwood, an outcast boy and clumsy inventor, creates a string of senseless inventions at his mother’s encouragement. When an economic crisis hits the town, the townspeople are forced to eat their usually exported sardines nonstop. Eventually, Flint invents a food processor that converts water into food, which he eventually launches into the atmosphere by mistake. Soon, it begins to rain hamburgers and other food on the island. Flint becomes famous, but the greedy Mayor Shelbourne overworks the machine and the food becomes a menace to the human race. The movie has a run time of 90 minutes and is rated PG for brief mild language.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to the event and are asked to refrain from the use of tobacco products while on campus in accordance with the college’s tobacco-free policy. In the event of inclement weather, the movie will be rescheduled to a later date.
