"G'day Mate!" UACCM Kid's College Wraps Up
40 area children learned how to say “G’day mate” and “Yee-haw!” while exploring the culture, sights and sounds of the far away land of Australia and the rough-and-rowdy Wild West during Kid’s College at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton July 12-16.
During the week, participants learned all about Australia and the Great Barrier Reef as well as the American Wild West in a fun, interactive environment. Kids performed hands-on activities, games, scientific investigations, and art projects designed to enhance their math and science skills. During their final day on campus, the children invited their parents to come and enjoy a program highlighting what they had learned during the week. According to UACCM Division Chair of Community Education Kim Darling, “The kids all seemed to have had a great time, and we hope to continue to expand the program in the future to further enhance the positive impact we can make on these young minds.”
